Katy This is a hard one for voting -- I really do not know much about Norse myths so all of these books would be new to me.

I want to say the Poetic Edda (Elder Edda) has a wider variety of myths than the prose Edda. But that's about as far as my knowledge goes.

I'm debating which one to vote for myself!

Just looking at page counts between the two (both Penguin editions), the Prose Edda is definitely shorter (180 pages), so I'd assume it'd cover fewer tales than the Elder one (432 pages).

I voted for the Elder Edda, but I'd happy reading the Prose too!

I voted for The Prose Edda based on page number too; I just know I won't have that much time to read non-research books, so I picked the shorter one! Usually I would lean the exact opposite way.

Judging by my track record for completing the longer original books, I really ought to pick something shorter too.

Yes, that's what I did too!

K, well, sorry guys... I want to read the original Eddas but with me being in the middle of the Canterbury Tales and the last bit of Dante's Divine Comedy, I want something a bit more modern for a group read...

I'm jumping ship last minute and switching over to the D'Aulaire collection.

Yes, I'd like to read them also, but trying to think of when I might have the time.
