so, Ammonite won the Tiptree and Lambda Literary Awards, and Natural History was a Campbell Award nominee. There's nominations for Locus, Hugo, Nebula, Goodreads, and Kitschies.

We sure these are "underrated"?

The rule in noms was that they had to have fewer than 3000 ratings.

Sorry, my last sentence was merely lightly rhetorical mild sarcasm about how we can follow our rules and still get stuff that is cream of the crop.

Mike brings up a good point. Maybe there should be a Participation Trophy poll? Written in the past 20 years, no awards, few reviews? ;-)

The group does! Every month we nominate and second books. The five books with the most seconds get added to a poll.

Well I know plenty of underrated sci-fi I'd love to nominate. I belong to a lot of writer's groups which produce some surprisingly good stuff.

I'm afraid you both have missed this poll. We make selections in a post; the poll is the culmination of the previous month's work. But the new theme should be up in a couple weeks, so you should come back then to nominate and second books! In the meantime, may I offer this post?
