Kimberly Peterson The Winds of War is so good! I can't believe it's at the bottom of the list!

I am surprised too by the poll results so far.

Wouk's The Caine Mutiny never seems to get much love in revisit polls either. I don't know why.

Kimberly I can't speak to The Winds of War as I have not read it, but The Caine Mutiny was brilliant. I have heard great things about Winds. It is a shame it didn't do better.

Katy I'm shocked more than surprised at the poll results. Three of the top four leading books are past group reads. Don't get me wrong both E of E and W in W are 5 star reads for me. That said, of the top four I think Arabian Nights would provide the best discussable material, especially over a three month period.

Yes, I've read both W in W and E of E -- although over the 600 pages, they are both easy and quick reads.

George P. The Woman in White is possibly this group's favorite book- looks like it'll be getting a third reading in 5 years! It was the choice for Old School classic in April 2013 and again a year and a half later (Nov '14) for Revisit the Shelf. I wasn't a member of this group then and haven't yet read it, and would like to, so ok by me. Maybe it'll be picked for Long Read next year too?
I suspect a lot of members vote for a book they'd like to read but then don't read it after it wins. Then when it's nominated again, they vote for it again. Just my theory off the top of my head.

Christine I really enjoyed The Woman in White when I read it. I hope everyone enjoys it this time around!

Good thinking George.

I enjoyed The Woman in White the first time I read it also.

Amy Eckert I'm disappointed Winds of War didn't win. I haven't read Woman in White, but I'll give it a go.

Well perhaps a buddy read will be in order!

message 11: by Amy (new)

Amy Eckert I would love that. Please, anyone want to do it as a Buddy Read? I want to read that and the sequel.

message 12: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Peterson I would love to reread those books but I've already planned out my books for the rest of the year and I don't think I'll have time to fit those in too :( If you wanted to wait till 2018 sometime, then I'd be down!
