I just wanted to say thanks for all the work being done to make this group so fun! I eagerly anticipate every new poll and read. It's been so great having this group!

That's great to hear! I tend to have a lot of fun, too.

This is a great selection. I have read (and enjoyed) The Automatic Detective. All of the rest are either on my tbr list or ought to be.

Well, looks like The Last Policemen will probably take it in which case I will not be participating because I have a phobia of asteroids lol.

This is basically just a detective story where they know any asteroid will strike in the future. It's not post-apocalyptic.

Really? The summary says:

Yep, it's a trilogy and the asteroid doesn't hit until the third.

Yeah, but it's still the end of the world, people are giving up, not going to their jobs, waiting to die. I can't handle that. It's not just the moment of impact of an asteroid that freaks me out, lol. If anything, the anticipation is worse.

I've read The Last Policeman and really enjoyed it, it's funny and smart and different. But because I've read it, I'm hoping The Automatic Detective wins the poll : )

I ended up voting for After Atlas because it was one of my favorite reads last year.

The automatic detective is on the tail of the last policeman. A Dark Tower-like opening that describes the poll so far.

How much I hoped to see Rajaniemi's "The quantum thief" on this list ;-)

The Quantum Thief is already on the group bookshelf.
