Agreed. I'm switching from Wild Swans to Maus. Because I do want to read that one too. Not sure anything can catch Faulkner though!

Melanti Faulkner does seem destined to win and I'm not a big fan either. Oh well. It's been coming in second for the last few months, so it was bound to win eventually.

Yes, I suppose so. I hope that holds for The Return of the Soldier in the short story poll as well!

I too have changed my vote from a sure looser, to the second place Maus. The only book left that has a chance of beating Faulkner. Even if that chance is seriously slim.

Jeri I just listened to a Faulkner, so much easier than paper. Lol.

message 8: by George P. (new)

George P. The Complete Maus did well, a competitive second place. I think we should give it another run sometime soon.

Bobbie I am happy to be reading this Faulkner at last, almost the last of his I've yet to read. I enjoy many of his because I lived in MS as a child and my grandfather lived about 20 miles from Faulkner's home. I love reading the old expressions that my mother used and I had forgotten until I started reading his books. I haven't read this book yet, but hopefully some of you will enjoy it more than you expect. If not, try The Unvanquished or The Reivers by him, which are surprisingly humorous.
