I voted for “All the Lonely People” because it ticks too many boxes; solicitor/sleuth, set in Liverpool, who married an unfaithful woman who, well, it gets too maudlin from there…not to mention the “Eleanor Rigby” reference.

I voted for Raven Black - I have read it a number of times and I would enjoy it again, but I was attracted to Holy Island too it sounds exciting.

I really had a hard time deciding on this one. I deleted the Ann Cleeves book which is in my WTR pile only because I watched the entire Shetland tv series in the last six months. I found access to all the other 3 books in the US and they all sounded great. The Harry Devlin book had things I love in a mystery - an interesting setting and a different, thought provoking main character. Also, the author is a favorite of mine! So, the Martin Edwards book won over the other 2. But great, great choices for all 4 books this poll everyone!!!!!! P.S. My life is a bit of a roller coaster these days due to family illness. I hope to actually calm down enough to read soon.

I voted Raven Black on Lesley’s recommendation and I enjoy Anne Cleaves style of writing.

I would like to read "All the lonely people" for the Beatles reference alone and the premise is intriguing as well. Ann Cleeves is a favorite of mine and although I would re-read Raven Black which is a great book, I am waiting for my library copy of her most recent Vera Stanhope installment. So, I'd rather read something else for this group read.
