andrea I think you're trying to kill me, too many great choices!

message 2: by 11811 (Eleven) (new)

11811 (Eleven) I'm torn between Naomi's Room, Audrey's Door, The Haunted, and The House That Jack Built. I'll need to meet with a council of advisers (that means you people) and come back later.

We could use this poll to select the next four months of group reads. That would simplify things.

Jason This one was hard!

message 4: by 11811 (Eleven) (new)

11811 (Eleven) Advise, Jason, Advise!

message 5: by Jason (new)

Jason Everyone had great nominations and I tried to have everyone's say in it. I'm hoping there is not another tie.

message 6: by Cecilia (new)

Cecilia Gads! I want to read all of these and have had most on my to-read list for a while. However, I just cataloged a new copy of "Floating Staircase" by Malfi in at our library so chose that one.

I'll read whichever anyone wants though...they are all great choices!

message 7: by Cecilia (new)

Cecilia Geez...now after looking at all of these again and refreshing my memory of what they are about...I think "The Sinner" by K. Trap Jones, "The Haunted" by Michaelbrent Collings (if available in pbk.) or "Urban Gothic" by Brian Keene.

You guys pick one...it's not easy choice!

Way to narrow it down, 11811. BTW, are you a robot?

Jason's not a meanie like me who cherry picks from all the suggestions. I don't want to make anyone's head explode with so many choices.

message 10: by Tressa (new)

Tressa I'm leaving the country if Urban Gothic is picked.

Come to Poland, I just installed electricity!

message 12: by Cecilia (new)

Cecilia Tressa...what's wrong with Urban Gothic? I've not read it...but had it marked to read...maybe...or...?

message 13: by Aloha (new)

Aloha I'm not coming back to HA unless House of Leaves get picked.

message 14: by Cecilia (new)

Cecilia Okay...I've changed my vote...three times now! This is way too difficult, Jason. If I remember correctly, the last vote was for Collings, "The Haunted"...I think.

I like 11811's idea of using the list for the next several month's worth of reading choices...good call, 11811!

Tressa...why, "I'm leaving the country if Urban Gothic is picked"??? Poor Mr. Keene...tsk, tsk...

message 15: by Tressa (new)

Tressa Urban Gothic SUCKS. I am a Keene fan and have enjoyed many of his books, but he should be ashamed for putting his name on this predictable snoozefest.

It was good knowing ya.

Oscar Don't leave, Aloha! *cries*

:P

I prefer android, or humanly challenged.

I understand the logic behind hiding the poll results but I actually prefer to see them so I can vote for a book I want to read that also has a marginal chance of winning. As it is, I'm always afraid I may be unwittingly voting for Ralph Nader.

Okay, I'm finally going to pick one. I think I'll go with House of Leaves.

message 19: by 11811 (Eleven) (new)

11811 (Eleven) Regardless of the winner, half of these are going on my TBR list.

message 20: by Aloha (new)

Aloha Tressa, thppfffffff.....

Okay, Oscar, I will stay for you and only you.

11811 (Eleven) I win!

message 22: by Tressa (new)

Tressa Eleven votes for Urban Gothic? Sheesh. Eleven people wanted me to leave the country all right.

message 23: by 11811 (Eleven) (new)

11811 (Eleven) I was thinking there may have been a conspiracy against you there, Tressa. One more vote and things could have gotten violent.

message 24: by Aloha (new)

Aloha My plan is working. Next, House of Leaves will be voted as a monthly read.

Tressa wrote: "Eleven votes for Urban Gothic? Sheesh. Eleven people wanted me to leave the country all right."

I'd rather read Urban Gothic.

I think you're right.

message 27: by 11811 (Eleven) (new)

11811 (Eleven) House of Leaves and Urban Gothic are both on myTBR list but the more I read in this thread, the farther they plummet on the list. Still, my morbid curiosity can't quite abandon them entirely.

message 28: by 11811 (Eleven) (new)

11811 (Eleven) The Haunted is lendable on Kindle so let me know if you would like to borrow it. Its pretty short so I should finish in a couple days.

message 29: by Tressa (new)

Tressa Brian Keene has written many good books, but UG is not one of them. However, you may enjoy it to the max, 11811. Whenever I see a book get scores of three and fewer stars, it means the story isn't good. But I read it anyway.

message 30: by andrea (new)

andrea Sooo, dumb question: I don't have an e-reader, does that mean I'm excluded from June's read?

message 31: by Tressa (new)

Tressa You can download a Kindle app to a computer or phone. It looks like it's only available at Amazon for the Kindle. For group reads I prefer it to be available in paper form so all can participate. But that didn't happen this time. Sorry.

message 32: by glenda (new)

glenda Oh fart, missed the whole damn thing! I'm on a practicum and don't have a chance to do anything fun!!!!!!!!!!
So, I guess it's The Haunted? I'll try!
