We've discussed the issue of what is literature and is not, and it is a subjective topic, but a think at least a few of these selections are not literature. If they get the votes, they get the votes, so I guess others don't object to that.

Hey Carl, If something got by us as mods, I hope you'll let us know. Do you want to shoot one of us a message? We'll take a look, and try to do better. Though, I will say, sometimes we try to loosen up on those things that fall on the line. It's pretty much a balancing act, you know?
I understand - a difficult balancing act. I think the time to criticize the genre is the nominating process, and I have not spent enough time with nominations, so as I said, if people vote for them, that's what we read. It is something to be conscious of because there are many book clubs for the different genres.
