And that is why I have concluded that our longing—what can feel something like homesickness—is, in some way, a yearning for God. It is a desire and a yearning for a special kind of homecoming, not just to be home with loved ones, but to find home with God, the one the psalmist calls “our dwelling place in all generations” (Psalm 90:1).”
