She became a fervent reader over lockdown and grabbing a book has become part of a morning routine: “get up, make bed, drink water, wash face, hair up, make coffee, sit down on couch – and read”... Though fascinated by the intense engagement people have with television, her “brain deadens” after watching much fiction on the screen. Reading calms her: “I’m a bit of a duck: calm on the surface, paddling underneath.”
