“Internships were another wonderful part of Mundelein’s formation program. From February to May 2000, I interned at St. Philip the Apostle Parish in Addison, Illinois. I lived in the parish and shadowed Fr. Tom Sularz, who was an amazing mentor. I saw how much Fr. Tom loved the people and valued his priestly ministry. He took me with him to visit people in the hospital and those who were homebound. I observed him as he celebrated Mass and preached. I saw how the people responded to him, and I knew how blessed I was to have him as my mentor. He was a great example for what it means to serve as a priest. Fr. Tom passed away in 2018. God rest his soul.”
