I remember vividly seeing this bright green flesh with what looked like small black sesame seeds. My mom was not too happy that my dad was leaving so much green flesh on the skin. It didn’t matter. The taste and the sensation were stunning: fresh, juicy, sweet, and acidic—all at the same time. I had never experienced anything like it. I didn’t even know if it was good or not. It was just the first time in my life that I had tasted this strange new fruit.”
