“Why did you take it out of the window and hang up some old socks instead?” Peter asked.
Uncle Jim laughed. “The stockings are for Christmas presents.”
“Who’d want socks for Christmas?” Peter asked.
“Not as a present! They hold presents. You know, lemon drops for your sisters…chocolates for your mother…” Jim said.
Peter gave Jim a funny smile. “I don’t know if I’d want lemon drops after they’d been in one of my socks.”
