“And in the end, we were all just humans, drunk on the idea that love, only love, could heal our brokenness.”
    Christopher Poindexter

  • #2
    Chris Dee
“The principles of storytelling do not change. Going home. Coming of age. Sin and redemption. The hero. The journey, The power of love. They are hardwired into us, just like our taste buds process sweet, sour, bitter, and salt. Can a new voice come up with something startling and creative and unprecedented? Absolutely. Can they invent a fifth taste? No. No, they can’t. Can they make it so we don’t like sweet anymore? No, no they can’t.”
    Chris Dee

    Frida Kahlo

  • #6
    Donald Miller
“I think this is when most people give up on their stories. They come out of college wanting to change the world, wanting to get married, wanting to have kids and change the way people buy office supplies. But they get into the middle and discover it was harder than they thought. They can't see the distant shore anymore, and they wonder if their paddling is moving them forward. None of the trees behind them are getting smaller and none of the trees ahead are getting bigger. They take it out on their spouses, and they go looking for an easier story.”
Donald Miller, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years: What I Learned While Editing My Life

  • #10
“I've wanted to win at everything, every day, since I was a kid. And time doesn't change a person, it just helps you get a handle on who you are. Even at age 41, I still hate losing--I'm just more gracious about it. I'm also aware that setbacks have an upside; they fuel new dreams.”
Dara Torres, Age Is Just a Number: Achieve Your Dreams at Any Stage in Your Life

  • #11
    Paulo Coelho
“Don't waste your time with explanations: people only hear what they want to hear.”
    Paulo Coelho

  • #12
    Lao Tzu
“Be careful what you water your dreams with. Water them with worry and fear and you will produce weeds that choke the life from your dream. Water them with optimism and solutions and you will cultivate success. Always be on the lookout for ways to turn a problem into an opportunity for success. Always be on the lookout for ways to nurture your dream.”
    Lao Tzu

  • #13

“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.”
    Lao Tzu

  • #14

    Lao Tse

  • #15
    Lao Tzu
“If a person seems wicked, do not cast him away. Awaken him with your words, elevate him with your deeds, repay his injury with your kindness. Do not cast him away; cast away his wickedness.”
    Lao-Tzu

  • #16
    Lao Tzu
“Your own positive future begins in this moment. All you have is right now. Every goal is possible from here.”
    Lao Tzu

    Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

“Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny.”
    Lao Tzu

  • #21
    Lao Tzu
“Spring comes, and the grass grows by itself.”
    Lao Tzu

“Knowing how to yield is strength”
    Lao-Tzu

  • #23
    Shannon L. Alder
“If you spend your time hoping someone will suffer the consequences for what they did to your heart, then you're allowing them to hurt you a second time in your mind.”
    Shannon L. Alder

“Self-control is strength. Right thought is mastery. Calmness is power. ”
James Allen, As a Man Thinketh

  • #25

    Michelangelo Buonarroti

  • #26

    Colleen Hoover
    “Write poorly.
    Suck.
    Write Awful.
    Terribly.
    Frightfully.
    Don’t care.
    Turn off the inner editor.
    Let yourself write.
    Let it flow.
    Let yourself fail.
    Do something crazy.
Write 50,000 words in the month of November.
    I did it.
    It was fun.
    It was insane.
It was 1,667 words per day.
It was possible, but you have to turn off the inner critic off completely.
    Just write.
    Quickly.
    In bursts.
    With joy.
If you can’t write, run away.
    Come back.
    Write again.
    Writing is like anything else.
You won’t get good at it immediately.
    It’s a craft.
You have to keep getting better.
You don’t get to Juilliard unless you practice.
You want to get to Carnegie Hall?
Practice. Practice. Practice ..or give them a lot of money.
Like anything else it takes 10,000 hours to get to mastery.
    Just like Malcolm Gladwell says.
    So write.
    Fail.
    Get your thoughts down.
    Let it rest.
    Let is marinate.
Then edit, but don’t edit as you type.
That just slows the brain down.
    Find a daily practice.
    For me it’s blogging.
    It’s fun.
The more you write the easier it gets.
The more it is a flow, the less a worry.
It’s not for school, it’s not for a grade, it’s just to get your thoughts out there.
You know they want to come out.
    So keep at it.
    Make it a practice.
    Write poorly.
    Write awfully.
Write with abandon and it may end up being really really good.”
    Colleen Hoover

“Have no fear of perfection - you'll never reach it.”
