    سرش را تكان داد و خنديد. مادرم رو كرد به خواهرم و گفت:

    - پس ننه چرا معطلي؟ پاشو بچهكت‌رو نشون خانم بده. پاشو ننه تا من برم واسه‌شون چايي بيارم.

    و بلند شد رفت بيرون. من دفترچه تمبرم را از طاقچه برداشتم و همانجور كه بيخودي ورقش مي‌زدم مواظب بودم كه خواهرم قنداق بچه را روي كرسي باز كرد و زنيكه دو سه جاي شكم بچه را دست ماليد كه مثل شكم ماهي‌هاي بابام سفيد بود و هنوز حرفي نزده بود كه فرياد بابام از اتاق خودش بلند شد. مرا صدا مي‌كرد. دفترچه را روي طاقچه پراندم و ده بدو. مادرم داشت از پشت در اطاق بابام برمي‌گشت. گفتم:

    - شما كه اومده بودين چايي ببرين واسه مهمون!

    - غلط زيادي نكن،‌ ذليل شده!”
