“I’m a little dirty,” he said huskily, running his hand up and down the outside of one of her thighs. “I washed up but should have showered. Didn’t expect this.”

“You probably should have expected this.” Her voice sounded a little breathless.

“Yeah,” he agreed, his eyes darkening. “I probably should have.”

“It’s okay,” she told him. “I’m washable.” Images of showers and soap bubbles tripped through her mind and she hoped through his as well.

He gave her a little grin. “Good to know. Means I can get you really dirty.”

Juliet felt her breathing quicken. She put her hand against his face, over his scar. “I really want that.”

Sawyer slid a hand up her back and into her hair. He urged her closer until her lips were nearly against his. “Me, too.”

“Well, when we get hot there are a couple of other things we do,” he said.
    Had he moved closer?
    Juliet swallowed. “Like what?”
“We take clothes off,” he said.”

“Juliet laughed. “You all are crazy, you know that?”
“Oh, for sure,” he said with a nod.
    “Does it rub off?”
    “If you’re lucky.”

“Hey, the only person I almost shot was Owen,” Maddie said, giving her boyfriend a huge smile. “And if that does end up happening, he’ll forgive me.”
Owen grabbed her wrist and pulled her close, kissing the top of her head. “You’d nurse me back to health?”
“I’d make you alligator gumbo out of the fucking lizard that tried to take a bite of you,” she said.”

“The Landry family had as much romance in their blood as red blood cells. They were genetically programmed and then nurtured from the crib to believe in love and fate and soulmates and romance.

Some of them just went with it. Some of them fought it.

But none of them were immune.”

“She was gorgeous, for sure—like gorgeous. As in, I’ll-fight-dragons-for-her gorgeous. Which had to be the single most ridiculous thing that had ever crossed Zander’s mind. But yeah, she walked in and looked around with an air that said she expected dragon slayers to be rushing forward, brandishing their swords, and jostling to be the one she chose. Jesus, dude, you need to lay off the fantasy romance.”

“You ever been fucked by a bayou boy after drinkin’ moonshine at a crawfish boil while skinny dippin’ when you’re supposed to be fishin’?” His drawl had just gotten very deep and pronounced and Caroline felt her clit actually tingle in response. “I…” She cleared her throat. “…have not.” “Then you’re a virgin in all the most fun ways.”

“Let's not all go gettin' all worked up," he said dryly, as he stepped around the end of the table. "We wouldn't want that to happen."

"Worked up" was pretty much the constant state of the Landry family.”

“It was after the big ice storm. They got the boats up on the ice and because airboats only have big fans on the back and no rudders or anything underneath they can just slide along like big sleds." Leo grinned. "I mean, it looked like hell of a good time.”

“Caroline nodded. "I understand that. The bayou is a huge part of your life and the local lifestyle. And people might come in here because of the bayou, but they don't fall in love with it and come back because of that. They fall in love and come back because they feel like a part of the family. Because they feel welcome and accepted here. That's what all of this represents." She gestured to encompass all of the photographs they had hanging on the wall. "I think these photographs are key. The posters and sports banners are great, but these photographs need to stay for sure.”
