    Viktoria Faust
“Ali od sveg njegovog lika, vidljivog i nevidljivog, samo sam ociju bila svjesna, sivih, velikih, upornih, nepomicnih. Te oci... o, Boze, kakve oci! Oci koje osvoje i ne pustaju... Koje zovu. Mame i oduzimaju um. Oci kojim ne treba rijec. Ledene, s dubokim crnim zjenicama u kojim kao da su bili hipnoticki virovi i kao da ih je okruzivala tanka nit od zlata koja se spustala u spirali sve do u dubinu njegove duse. A kad me njegov pogled dotaknuo, ta nit se pruzala preko prostora i sputala me. Osjecala sam da ne zelim da me pusti ikad vise.
Stajala sam nepomicna i sledena nasred puste ulice. On, tamo u uglu, zasjenjenog lica, leda okrenutih svjetlosti, nije davao znak zivota od sebe.

    “Promise Yourself

To be so strong that nothing
can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity
    to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel
that there is something in them
To look at the sunny side of everything
and make your optimism come true.

To think only the best, to work only for the best,
and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others
as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past
and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times
and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself
that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,
and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world,
not in loud words but great deeds.
To live in faith that the whole world is on your side
so long as you are true to the best that is in you.”
Christian D. Larson, Your Forces and How to Use Them

    “A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own even if she never wants
    to or needs to...
    A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
something perfect to wear if the employer or date of her
dreams wants to see her in an hour...
    A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
a youth she's content to leave behind....
    A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
a past juicy enough that she's looking forward to
retelling it in her old age....
    A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .....
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black
    lace bra...
    A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
one friend who always makes her laugh... and one who
    lets her cry...
    A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone
    else in her family...
    A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems, and a
recipe for a meal that will make her guests feel honored...
    A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
a feeling of control over her destiny...
    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to fall in love without losing herself..
    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
    HOW TO QUIT A JOB,
    BREAK UP WITH A LOVER,
AND CONFRONT A FRIEND WITHOUT RUINING THE FRIENDSHIP...
    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
when to try harder... and WHEN TO WALK AWAY...
    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that she can't change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..
    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that her childhood may not have been perfect...but it's over...
    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she would and wouldn't do for love or more...
    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to live alone... even if she doesn't like it...
    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
    whom she can trust,
    whom she can't,
    and why she shouldn't
    take it personally...
    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
    where to go...
be it to her best friend's kitchen table...
or a charming inn in the woods...
    when her soul needs soothing...
    EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she can and can't accomplish in a day...
    a month...and a year...”

“I walk around the school hallways and look at the people. I look at the teachers and wonder why they're here. If they like their jobs. Or us. And I wonder how smart they were when they were fifteen. Not in a mean way. In a curious way. It's like looking at all the students and wondering who's had their heart broken that day, and how they are able to cope with having three quizzes and a book report due on top of that. Or wondering who did the heart breaking. And wondering why.”
Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower

“We kiss again and this time, it feels familiar. I know exactly how we fit together, his arm around my waist, my hands on his chest, the pressure of his lips on mine. We have each other memorized.”

    Lilly Avalon
“God, you're so sweet.” He holds my face in his hands and kisses me deeply. I slowly unzip his hoodie and touch a hand to his bare chest. I relish in the feel of it. Barely an hour ago I was admiring it from afar, and now it's no longer just a tease. When I slide my hand down to his stomach, he groans and his hands slip just under my shirt. “So that's why you didn't want to change.” I can feel his smile against my lips. “You just wanted me to take your clothes off for you.”

“Guilty.” I lift my arms for him to pull it off. Instead of returning to kissing me, his eyes roam down my body. I fight the urge to cover myself; even though my bra is still on, I feel exposed. His hands lightly touch each side along the seam. My breath catches in my throat.

Meeting my eyes, he says, “You're so damn beautiful.” He leans forward, pressing a soft kiss in between my breasts. I shiver at the light touch of his lips to my sensitive skin. If this is how he makes me feel with such little contact, then how will the rest of this feel? The need is building inside like a spark starting a fire.”
    Lilly Avalon, Here All Along

    Veronica Roth
“Wait a second," Four says. I turn toward him, wondering which version of Four I'll see now-the one who scolds me, or the one who climbs Ferris wheels with me. He smiles a little, but the smile doesn't spread to his eyes, which look less tense and worried.

"You belong here, you know that?" he says. "You belong with us. It'll be over soon, so just hold on, okay?"

He scratches behind his ear and looks away, like he's embarrassed by what he said.

I stare at him. I feel my heartbeat everywhere, even in my toes. I feel like doing something bold, but I could just as easily walk away. I am not sure which option is smarter, or better. I am not sure that I care.

I reach out and take his hand. His fingers slide between mine. I can't breathe.

I stare up at him, and he stares down at me. For a long moment, we stay that way. Then I pull my hand away and run after Uriah and Lynn and Marlene. Maybe now he thinks I'm stupid, or strange. Maybe it was worth it.”
    Veronica Roth, Divergent

“I have something I need to tell you," he says. I run my fingers along the tendons in his hands and look back at him. "I might be in love with you." He smiles a little. "I'm waiting until I'm sure to tell you, though."
"That's sensible of you," I say, smiling too. "We should find some paper so you can make a list or a chart or something."
I feel his laughter against my side, his nose sliding along my jaw, his lips pressing my ear.
"Maybe I'm already sure," he says, "and I just don't want to frighten you."
I laugh a little. "Then you should know better."
"Fine," he says. "Then I love you.”
    Veronica Roth, Divergent

“He never knew a single second could be expanded into something timeless and so archaic. It shook him to his core – there were no words for it.”

    Veronica Roth
“I touch her cheek to slow the kiss down, holding her mouth on mine so I can feel every place where our lips touch and every place where they pull away. I savor the air we share in the second afterwards and the slip of her nose across mine. I think of something to say, but it is too intimate, so I swallow it. A moment later I decide I don't care.

"I wish we were alone," I say as I back out of the cell.

She smiles. "I almost always wish that.”
    Veronica Roth, Allegiant

“I love you. I am who I am because of you. You are every reason, every hope, and every dream I've ever had, and no matter what happens to us in the future, everyday we are together is the greatest day of my life. I will always be yours. ”

    Nicholas Sparks
“We sit silently and watch the world around us. This has taken a lifetime to learn. It seems only the old are able to sit next to one another and not say anything and still feel content. The young, brash and impatient, must always break the silence. It is a waste, for silence is pure. Silence is holy. It draws people together because only those who are comfortable with each other can sit without speaking. This is the great paradox.”
    Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook

Nicholas Sparks, Message in a Bottle
