    Stephen Fry
“If you know someone who’s depressed, please resolve never to ask them why. Depression isn’t a straightforward response to a bad situation; depression just is, like the weather.

Try to understand the blackness, lethargy, hopelessness, and loneliness they’re going through. Be there for them when they come through the other side. It’s hard to be a friend to someone who’s depressed, but it is one of the kindest, noblest, and best things you will ever do.”
    Stephen Fry

    Dale Carnegie
“You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.”
Dale Carnegie, How to Win Friends & Influence People

    You Chose

    You chose.
    You chose.
    You chose.

You chose to give away your love.
You chose to have a broken heart.
    You chose to give up.
    You chose to hang on.

    You chose to react.
    You chose to feel insecure.
    You chose to feel anger.
    You chose to fight back.
    You chose to have hope.

    You chose to be naïve.
You chose to ignore your intuition.
    You chose to ignore advice.
You chose to look the other way.
    You chose to not listen.
You chose to be stuck in the past.

    You chose your perspective.
    You chose to blame.
    You chose to be right.
    You chose your pride.
    You chose your games.
    You chose your ego.
    You chose your paranoia.
    You chose to compete.
    You chose your enemies.
    You chose your consequences.

    You chose.
    You chose.
    You chose.
    You chose.

However, you are not alone. Generations of women in your family have chosen. Women around the world have chosen. We all have chosen at one time in our lives. We stand behind you now screaming:

    Choose to let go.
    Choose dignity.
    Choose to forgive yourself.
    Choose to forgive others.
    Choose to see your value.
Choose to show the world you’re not a victim.
    Choose to make us proud.”
    Shannon L. Alder

“The best relationships in our lives are the best not because they have been the happiest ones, they are that way because they have stayed strong through the most tormentful of storms.”

“Anger, resentment and jealousy doesn't change the heart of others-- it only changes yours.”

    Stephen Richards
“The only time you fail is when you fall down and stay down.”
Stephen Richards, Cosmic Ordering: You can be successful

  • #7
    Stephen Fry
“Certainly the most destructive vice if you like, that a person can have. More than pride, which is supposedly the number one of the cardinal sins - is self pity. Self pity is the worst possible emotion anyone can have. And the most destructive. It is, to slightly paraphrase what Wilde said about hatred, and I think actually hatred's a subset of self pity and not the other way around - ' It destroys everything around it, except itself '.

Self pity will destroy relationships, it'll destroy anything that's good, it will fulfill all the prophecies it makes and leave only itself. And it's so simple to imagine that one is hard done by, and that things are unfair, and that one is underappreciated, and that if only one had had a chance at this, only one had had a chance at that, things would have gone better, you would be happier if only this, that one is unlucky. All those things. And some of them may well even be true. But, to pity oneself as a result of them is to do oneself an enormous disservice.

I think it's one of things we find unattractive about the american culture, a culture which I find mostly, extremely attractive, and I like americans and I love being in america. But, just occasionally there will be some example of the absolutely ravening self pity that they are capable of, and you see it in their talk shows. It's an appalling spectacle, and it's so self destructive. I almost once wanted to publish a self help book saying 'How To Be Happy by Stephen Fry : Guaranteed success'. And people buy this huge book and it's all blank pages, and the first page would just say - ' Stop Feeling Sorry For Yourself - And you will be happy '. Use the rest of the book to write down your interesting thoughts and drawings, and that's what the book would be, and it would be true. And it sounds like 'Oh that's so simple', because it's not simple to stop feeling sorry for yourself, it's bloody hard. Because we do feel sorry for ourselves, it's what Genesis is all about.”
    Stephen Fry

    Pandora Poikilos
“We are so accustomed to the comforts of "I cannot", "I do not want to" and "it is too difficult" that we forget to realize when we stop doing things for ourselves and expect others to dance around us, we are not achieving greatness. We have made ourselves weak.”
Pandora Poikilos, Excuse Me, My Brains Have Stepped Out

    Jena Morrow
“I am forever engaged in a silent battle in my head over whether or not to lift the fork to my mouth, and when I talk myself into doing so, I taste only shame. I have an eating disorder.”
Jena Morrow, Hollow: An Unpolished Tale

  • #15
    Dan Millman
“There is no need to search; achievement leads to nowhere. It makes no difference at all, so just be happy now! Love is the only reality of the world, because it is all One, you see. And the only laws are paradox, humor and change. There is no problem, never was, and never will be. Release your struggle, let go of your mind, throw away your concerns, and relax into the world. No need to resist life, just do your best. Open your eyes and see that you are far more than you imagine. You are the world, you are the universe; you are yourself and everyone else, too! It's all the marvelous Play of God. Wake up, regain your humor. Don't worry, just be happy. You are already free!”
Dan Millman, Way of the Peaceful Warrior: A Book That Changes Lives

When you have spent what feels like eternity trying to repair a few moments of time that destroyed the view others once had of you then you must ask yourself if you have the problem or is it really them? God doesn’t make us try so hard, only enemies do.”
