Camille Ender's Game is one of my all time favorite books. I've read and reread it too many times to count. I was, however, somewhat disappointed with all the books that followed it.

Renee i should have checked your shelves, then!

were you really? i personally found the sequels to be much deeper and more cerebral (xenocide was my favorite, closely followed by speaker for the dead). despite my love for the first, i loved the philosophical aspects of the sequels and the exploration of alien life. they were like the mature big brother to the first.

but i totally understand why you were disappointed -- ender's game is addictive in a way that the sequels just weren't. ender's game is like christmas at 5 years old where the presents just keep on coming, whereas the sequels are like christmas at 40 and you're on the other end of the gift-giving. or something.

Camille Hmm. Now that I think about it, I attempted reading Xenocide and Speaker for the Dead at an age when I was probably too young. I got hooked on Ender's Game early, and it was so fast-paced that I was fine, but I've definitely gotten a much deeper meaning out of it in recent readings. I have a feeling I should give those books another shot.
