Steve’s recommendation of Titan (Gaea, #1) > Likes and Comments

I read the synopses of the rest of the trilogy. Gaea's not a heroine.
Hmm, I never really meant to imply that Gaea was a heroine, per se, just a very interesting female alien in a major role. But I guess she does become a bit of a villainess later in the series (it's been quite a while since I last read it), so maybe it's not such a great fit for your request. It *is* a very interesting series, and well worth a read, if not in this context. :-)
Thanks, Steve. I appreciate all recommendations, even if I end up not reading them. This one I probably will read at some point, but when (or because) I'm looking for something different.
The reason I ask for sympathetic female aliens is because female Others, both in fantasy and in sci-fi, are so often portrayed as evil, or at the very least untrustworthy, while male Others are more likely to be depicted in a sympathetic light, as "misunderstood monsters." I'm looking for books that go against that usual trend.
