Pediu ao seu Geraldo, o motorista, que o levasse ao veterinário mais próximo, e rápido. A lamúria da P. durou uma semana, o tempo da internação. Penélope foi visitá-lo todos os dias e voltava com boletins não solicitados da evolução do quadro. Eu não aguentava mais aquela ladainha toda. Quando ela voltou com o bicho recém-operado dentro da caixa de transporte, seu Geraldo despontou atrás com sacolas enormes, trazendo o enxoval completo comprado no pet shop. Penélope depositou a caixa cuidadosamente no canto da sua mesa. Dava para ver um colchãozinho xadrez. Não tem gato? Então, não tem. É uma gata. Penélope mostrou a plaquinha de identificação como nome Lady Gata e o número do celular dela. É isso, agora a gata mora aqui com a gente. Alguém tem alergia? Bateu uma caixa de Fenergan em cima da mesa. Sem protestos.”
