Rick turned off the car and jumped out to help. Opening the boot he pulled out the buggy. "Can I carry it up to the porch for ya?" He didn't really wait for an answer but started to haul it up anyways.
She walked up to the porch and unlocked the door."Please come in and let me get you something to drink, its the least i could do after you drove me here." She said, she walked inside leaving the door open for him.
"Not at all, That's alright, I'll just wait out here while you put him down." There were some nice charis on the porch so he just sat in one of those. He didn't have younger siblings and he didn't know much about kids, but he liked them well enough, and even though he had been invited in he would have felt awkward wondering th ehouse while Haven put her little brother to bed.
She nodded and made her way to Coles room. She Put him into his cot gently, placed a kiss on his forhead and whispered sleep well before she returned to Rick."What type of drink do you like?" she asked in a sing-song voice
"I'll have a coke if you got one, otherwise water will be fine." He said. He didn't feel the need for anything stronger not to mention he was going to be driving back to town soon and even IF he would not be killed by his mother, he had no desire to die in the car either. "Thanks."
She nodded and went back to the kitchen, bringing back 2 bottles, on for him and one for her. She handed over Ricks and began to speak."So your mother is an Elder?" she asked, trying to start a conversation.
Color rose to Ricks cheeks but it wasn't anger. "Yeah, um...she the earth elder." He said taking off the lid and taking a drink of coke. "But you don't have to worry about me getting you in trouble or anything.....I wouldn't do that."
"Thanks" she gave a small smile of appreciation "My dad must work with your mum sometimes, he's an earth element. My mother works with the fire elders, that's why they aren't around often." she took a sip of her drink
"So are you full earth, or mixed?" she asked
"Um..I'm not usre actually. I assume so, but I never met my dad so...it's possible, although I have never had any traits but earth. When I was younger I used to think I was part air, and I tried so hard to get a little puff to go through my room, but it never happened so I'm pretty sure I am earth." He smiled at what a silly littl eboy he had been. "What is your dads name?" he asked. He knew a lot of the people his mom worked with and he wanted to know.
She smiled at his childhood memory and the replied to his question"His names John Myra" she took another sip of her drink looking out over the land surrounding them.
"Ohhh...yeah John." He noddend and avoiding her eyes he took another drink. He rubbed his nose and said. "I don't think he likes me very much, maybe I had better go." But he didn't make any move to leave.
"Oh, don't leave yet." she said a little quickly. She was enjoying somebody's company that was her own age."Come with me" she said grasping hold of his hand ad leading him round to the back of the cottage. There was a large field overlooking a stretch of land. She clicked her toungue and 2 horse came trotting up to the fence. Blossom was hers, and the newer horse, who she had decided to name Blaze, had only appeared a few days ago. Blossom nudged into her and she smiled, dimples showing.
Rick took her hand and followed not sure what else to do. The horses were beautiful but he had enevr ridden a horse before. "So how different is this from riding motorcycles?" He asked with a tight smile.
"Alot." she said simply grinning "You have a living animal under your control, so you have to be gentle and caring."
She went over to a small shed and went inside, bringing out one set of reins and a saddle. She then proceeded to put these on Blossom.
She patted Blossoms neck. The horse positioned herself so she was in line with the fence. Haven climbed the bars on the fence and swung her leg over, landing in the saddle
"Although if your gonna ride you have to know the basics first, I'll show you and then you can have a go on Blossom and I'll ride Blaze"
"Blaze huh?" HE smiled crookedly at her. "I like that name. But I have to confess the only ridding experience I have is through John Wyne." He said sheepishly. He was excited though, horsback ridding looked like so much fun.
"Ok. Well first you need to reassure the animal that your not gonna hurt it, I've raised Blossom, so she knows I mean well, but she doesn't know you. So whisper in her ear and stroke her mane untill you feel like you have done enough. Next, you climb up onto the fence. Blossom will alone herself, and I'll handle Blaze. So anyway you gently lower yourself onto her back so you don't spook her. Then kick her sides like this."
Haven demonstrated quickly. Blossom moved forward a few steps.
"They will move. But remember about being gentle, not to heavyhanded. Right do that a few times and pull, this will stop them. Now you will be on control and know how to handle them."
Haven jumped down off of Blossom, sand walked over to Blaze. Blossom proceeded to walk back over to where Rick was standing, and sniffed him slightly.
Rick held out his hand like he had seen in movies feeling like a idiot. Who does things they have only seen in movies. Blossom came to his hand so he put his other one on her head and stroked her gently. "Kind of like getting a......on seond thought never mind." He finished quickly.
Haven smiled slightly a small blush tainting her cheeks. She ran a hand through Blazes mane and whispered to him untill he moved around to enable her to get on his back. She swung her leg over and patted his neck in appreciation.
Rick lead Bloosom over the the fence and got on. It took him a moment to find his balance on Blossom. The way she moved under him and shifted her wieght was nothing like a motorcycle. "WHoo" he said trying to find his seat. Blossom moved forward as he accedental tapped her sides. He pulled the rieghs gently to the left and got her to go ina circle before pulling up a little hard to make her stop. He patted Blossoms neck. "Alright, if she doesn't do anything I think I might not fall off." HE laughed.
Haven smiled, a small giggle escaping her throat. She clicked her toungue, and whispered a few soft words that only the horses would be able to hear. Blossom moved forward a few steps, carefull not to rock back and forth, she moved Blaze towards Blossom and then strokes Blossoms head in thanks.
"I didn't know anyone had horses around here. I know there is a ranch out north that has some but not so close to town, so you have enough room to allow them the right amount of excersise?" He knew a little about horses from when he was eight. He had been madly inlove with horses for about two weeks and found out all he could though he never got to ride one.
"Yea, we have about 20 acres of land, although about 2 acres is used for their stables and paddock." She replied. "I found Blossoms mum about 3 years back. She was in the last stages of having Blossom but you could see in her eyes she wasnt going to make it through. I stayed with her until she passed on and then took Blossom back and raised her."
She smiled fondly at her horse.
"So do you have any siblings or pets?" Haven asked
She dug her heels lightly into Blazes stomach and he started to stroll at a gentle pace. She gestured for Rick to follow.
Rick pressed his heels slowly into Blossoms sides but she didn't move. He kick her a bit and she jerk forward but settled into a walk a few second later. "Whoo,,..um..no." He was getting a feel for the motion of moving from side to side as Blossom walked. "I'm an only child and no pets bigger than a turtle. I had some fish once but a week vaccation put and h=end to him, poor fish."
She smiled slightly."So who are you attending the ball with?" she asked carefully, not wanting to send him running for the hills with her forwardness.
"No one yet. I had a girl all set to go from school, from she was called out of town a few nights ago." He had an idea Haven might be asking to go with him, but he waited to see if she had a partner first. "How bout you? First night to the ball you must have boys lined up from last week."
Haven laughed."I wish. I have no experience with boys at all, your the first one that I've ever talked to when it's not related to school work or work in general."
She patted Blaze on the neck affectionately.
"I've been asked out a few times, but that was when my brother was only a baby, after I turned a few of them down I guess the rest decided to keep their distance in case I said no to them as well, that's what I would like to think anyway."
((Sorry dinner))"Their loss, is my gain." He smiled broadly at her. "Would you come with me?" He was pretty sure she would say yes, after all he had the car, but he wanted her to say yes because she wanted to come, not because Rick had the ride.
"Really?! That would be great! I would love to go with you." she would have hugged him but as they were sitting on horses she didn't think it would turn out to good."Maybe we could go out a few times before the ball?" she suggested looking at him expectantly with her grey eyes.
"Maybe we could. Like dinner tonight at lets say 7 o'clock?" His greend eyes brighten at the thought. He was getting more comfortable on Blossom and he moved her closer to Haven, until they were right side by side. "Or we could....what time do you parents get back?" He asked.
Haven smiled. she had talked to a boy today, had a date to the dance, and may be going out for diner tonight."They get back at 6 o'clock today. They are coming back home early all this week because of the Ball, usually it's about 11 at night they get home from work."
She watched as the horse moved closer and she knew for a fact they wouldn't move now, not unless she told them to. Instrad she leaned over and enveloped Rick into a hug.
Rick was shocked for a moment, then leaned forwards and hugged her back. "What was that for?" He asked when they broke apart. Looked like dinner it would be when her parents got home.
"Thank you for inviting me to go with you. Now about dinner, where do you want to meet?"She smiled at him. Maybe going out for dinner tonight would be a good experience for her. She was caring for her brother 24/7 and needed a bit of fun and time to be a teenager.
"Well that depends, are you going to have a way of getting there? I'd hate to leave and leave you stranded at the house with no way to get there." He said happy she was looking pretty happy about going out.
"is it a bit rude of me to ask you to pick me up." she asked a slight smiled on her face. She knew her parents would be surprised, maybe even a bit angry, but she didn't care. She was going to have her own time.
"Nah, whats the fun in having a car if you don't get to use it, although I should let you know, for dates I ride a motorcyle." He winked at her "The car is my moms really, do you can dump me now if you like, for only having two wheels."
Haven smiled."Not at all, I don't judge people on how many wheels they have." she said with a humorous tone.
"Anyway, rising on a motorbike sounds fun, but you'll have to wait outside of the house for me. I don't think my dad would to impressed if I'm going out with a boy tonight AND I riding a motorcycle." she smiled again, her dad could be slightly overprotective at times, even if he usually wasn't around.
"Well we wouldn't want that now would we, but won't your dad want to meet me before I drive off with you on my motorbike? I'll park it down the street if that helps." Rick was not particularly eager to met her father again, but he knew the unspoken rules of dating. You got to at least give the dad one chance.
"I guess.." she said hesitantly. Her father was a strict man and if Rick had already met him before hand it didn't really bode well for a good introduction, especially since Rick had said he didn't like her dad. But if the motorcycle was down the road then it shouldn't be to much of a bother right? She reasoned with herself for a minute before deciding that it was for the best if her father met the boy she was about to go to dinner with."Yea, park down the street and pick me up from the house." she nodded happy with the arrangement.
"Will do." He looked around and was surprised to see how far they were from the house already. "I better head home, I still have to get a mask for tonight." He put his head in his hands. "god I sound like a girl."
She smiled."Come on girly let's get back to the house." she said as smile spread across her face, he turned Blaze around and waited for Rick to join her with Blossom.
Rick couldn't deicide if he was indignet at her, or amused she picked up jokes so fast. "Right behind ya!" He said tunring Bloosom. He had to go in a circle three times before getting Blossom to go staight but he got it at last and came up beside Zola. When they got back he dismounted, he feel but his foot was still in the stirup so he stayed upright. It took him a moment to get loose but he finally did. "I'll be back around six ya?" He said handing Zola the reighns for Blossom. "Or ..I should help you clean the horses up first shouldn't I?" He asked frowning at how rude it would be for him to leave before helping. "Show me what to do."
"It's ok, I only cleaned them this morning, so they should be ok for a few days." she smiled slightly "I'll see you tonight at seven ok?" she said enveloping him into another hug.
"And thanks again for asking me to come to the ball with you. I would have probably been going alone otherwise."
She kissed him on the cheek and waved him goodbye.
"See you soon!" she said with a smile leading the horses away.
((Her names Haven :3 and this will probably be my last post for 10-12 days as I am going on holiday. Please don't kickb me out of the group for being inactive it's just because I'm going away :3))
((HAHAHA sorry! I got confused *blush* I'm sure this thread will wait. I am going to tak emy charter else were and when you come back I send him back to tak eyou out :D))He blushed at the kiss but hid it pretty well. "I'll be here. Oh...'" He pulled out a piece of paper and wrote down his phone nu,ber, "You can text me if I'm late" He smiled. He got in his car and waving good bye drove back to town.
((Hey im back! im gonna skip to night time now if thats ok :3))Haven pottered around the house uneasily, she had texted Rick about 5 minutes and although she knew he wouldnt be here for a while she still had butterflies in her stomach. She had never been on a date and didnt really know what to expect. Her mother, evn though she was usually quite open and blunt. Had tittered and insisted on helping to pick out what to wear and what dress to put on. Her father, however, was playing the protective roll, something he rarely did.

((Hey you made it! Glad to have ya back))Rick had gotten Havens text about ten minute before he was suppose to be there. He smiled, glad she was in a hurry to come with him. He parked his green and black bike around the corner as promised and went to her front door. He took a deep breath, straightened his tie, and rang the door bell. He had been on plenty of dates but there was soemmthing about Haven that made this one special, not to mention the fact he had to face John again. The last time Rick had seen him John had fallen into one of Rick's pits he had been constructing as a element excersice. The backlash for not filling it in had not been good, that was about two years ago since Rick had avoided him like th eplague ever since.
((Thanks :3))John opened the door and narrowed his eyes. This was the boy that his daughter would be going out with. He had visablly grown taller, but John still remembered the unfilled pit. Before he could say anything Haven rushed past in a flurry
"Bye Dad." she said reaching up to give him a peck on the cheek before grasping Ricks hand and closing the door.
Rick tried to hold in the laughter at Johns face as the door slammed shut on it. He grasped Havens hand with a smile of white teeth and made it down the steps and off the poarch before starting to gigle and snort as he tried not to laugh hystarically outloud an dmake John come out of the house. "Wow, you look great." He said looking at her his green eyes twinkling. The color matched her perfectly and brought out the red in her cheeks.
