If anyone is interested in Canada, I recommend Monkey Beach: A Novel by Eden Robinson. It's a first novel and beautifully, if not perfectly, written. The writer's sense of place is so intense, you can smell the pines. Told from the perspective of a young First Nations girl at two stages in her life.
I would like to nominate The Hypnotist.I'm so into Scandanavian crime at the mo, just love Jo Nesbo, so I thought I would give this author a try.

Oh no that's ok..perhaps I shall then nominate Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett any of you guys already read that? coz I'm currently into the sandman series lol :D
I haven't read it. I have read American Gods and the The Graveyard Book. Both of which I enjoyed for different reason.
