I hated the ending, I wish max had stayed with Dylan, and i wish they elaborated on what happened to the other kids of the flock
Happy about Max and Fang ending up together but the story seems unfinished and what happened to the flock???????????
Glad that Max and Fang are together, but what happens to the rest of the flock? The end leaves a lot unsaid.
And what does J. Patterson mean by it's the end of Maximum Ride, but not the end of Max?!?!
im happy that max and fang are together but, that ending stinks. she didnt save the world. wasnt that the point of her very existence?
I am really disappointed with this book. Very mad, didnt like it. I liked that Max and Fang were together, but otherwise it wasnt a very good book

Maybe because Maximum Ride was the girl who was flying around the world unsure of what she had to do to save the world and all that Jazz. Now, at the end of the book where Max is with Fang and basically the leader of a whole community, she doesn't have to save the world anymore or anything, so it's sort of like the start of a new era or something. So it's sort of the end of Maximum Ride and what it was all about and now she's a different Max.
I found the ending to be loose-ended, and slightly unbelievable. First: Dylan would not just get over his Max-obsession in like 2.5 minutes. Not to mention, yes breathing underwater (while stupid for bird-kids) would have come in handy, but would not have saved them from a Tsunami.
Second: Who ended the world? Did the Bad-guys make the apocalypse? Or was it natural? And what happened to this Scary plague thing? Did they actually release it?
Third: Way to explain away Max's save the world mission in a couple of paragraphs James Patterson! (which was totally lame by the way.)
Other than these few hiccups I really do like the whole becoming the leader of the new world thing, and that Max and fang are finally back together! Because who doesn't love Fang! In a way, I guess it was the end of a beginning.
I think the ending could have been better, but I hate Dylan so I enjoyed the ending because Max and Fang got back together. I think the book could have split up into two separate books to develop the characters more because I feel that after Fang left we sort of lost track of the story line about them sticking together...
I thought it was really creepy, but good. I really shipped Dylan, but at the ending I was like, "What the heck, Fang wins." :D As soon as this book came out I had to run to Sam's Club and buy it. I wanted it so flipping bad!
I think Maya should have lived and ended up with Fang, while he LEFT MAX AND DYLAN ALONE!!!And what about the rest of the flock... and teh others???
MAJORLY NEEDS AN EPILOGUE.
Agreed! Like really, what was he thinking? The "climax" (if you could even call it that) sucked! It was way to short and most of the book contained Max- making out with Dlyan
-making out with Fang
-thinking about making out with Dlyan or Fang
Me.I dislike Fang. Very much.
And Dylan, Iggy, and Gazzy were the only characters who had any substance in the book. True fact.
I dunno if she really died or not, I dunno if Iggy and Gazzy are alive,(and they're my favorite characters), So yeah the ending sucked.
I'm sooooooo confused!!! what happened?! did they die? what about the rest of the flock? agggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! :(
It was pretty good but I fell like James was just making up the book as it went along. I was not happy that Fang just left his group like that. What happened to them? Really Maya was the "big" death? Really? Angel being the voice? But I rember in 1 of the books the voice tould her that she was really the leader of the Flock. Explan that to me please. And what happend to the rest of the world???But over all it was pretty ok. It just felt rushed. Like James wanted to be over with it. It felt as useless as Books #4 and #5. But I do say im REALLY happy that Fang and Max ended up together. Over all I would rate it 3 1/2 out of 5.

I loved the series, but I was really unhappy about the ending. There were so many loose ends left unsolved...
We don't think the endind sucked, we know the ending sucked. You know why? Because it sucked! He rushed to finish the series and pissed a lot of people a result.
My major issues with it:1.Everyone was telling max that only she could save the world, but then their just like never mind we can just build a giant protective town for you.
2. There were lots of things left unexplained - for example the secret tunnel underneath their real school in book 3, the reason why the Gasmans photo as a baby was in the crack house, what did the codes they were trying to crack mean (also book 3) and what was Mr Chu? Did Max just completely forget about all of this?
3. Fangs power (being invisible) was completely unnecessary.
4. Iggy completely disowned his parents because they were going to make his wings public. Then a few books later they're doing air shows and making speeches at the White House
5. What became of Angel being blind and why did no one care about it?
Just my opinion of it and I could go on ranting about what a bad end it was to a brilliant series
THERE ARE SO MANY PROBLEMS!!!! THE ENDING IS B.S.! for one the end is suppose to come from a disease, but instead it came from SPACE AND NATURAL DISASTER!!!!!! on top of that...a lot of stuff was noted yet left completely unexplained or useless. for example: Fangs invisibility, angels blindness, gazzy's parents, and angel having her "wings cut". on top of that why didn't the united states government relies that there were people experimenting on children (HIGHLY ILLEGAL) and go arrest all of them, obviously the kids knew what where they all were. just ask them. any way...the ending was BULLSHIZA!
So many things to rant about. If you ask me, after the series got to "Max", it started going downhill. Either James Paterson thinks he can get away with writing crap just because the general readership of the Maximum ride series are younger, or he employed ghost writers who never read the series, but instead looked up spark notes that left out a lot of things. First of all, there is no way that Angel can be the Voice. I don't buy it. Even if she was lying, the series left it 100% ambiguous as to who or what Max's Voice was. Don't get me wrong, I love mysteries to solve. There were plenty in both of the Portal games. The difference is that in Portal, there were a lot of clues to at least make an educated guess on the things left unknown. As other commenters pointed out, Paterson left a whole ton of loose strings. A piece of advice an aspiring novelist may often hear is something along the lines of "Cut out the unnecessary details". It's good to do this because those things can be distracting. Consciously or not, a reader generally assumes that details, big or small, are important because the author put them there. Like seeds, they're meant to grow. And, you know, eventually be resolved or at least addressed. Need I say more? Paterson broke that, and now he has a bunch of young readers on his hands, who are more than disappointed that the ending to what would have been a good series has been completely ruined.
The ending to this series was very poor & in the end and last couple for books they all really started to annoy me! I COULDN'T TAKE IT! I wanted to drop the book so bad but I always want to finish a series no matter what. But it began to get a soap opera, drama, desperate feeling. James shouldn't have even made the series that long they were just dragged and dragged on to a point where I thought he was either repeating himself or throwing something in there desperately and hastily. I started the books in 7th grade dropped them then made myself finish them 2 years later. I think this is also a book that is more so fitted to 4th-5th graders, maybe 6th stretching it. But it's definitely meant for a younger audience. Because now being older we want something really exhilarating and more P-13 to almost R rated type books. This was an ok series that was disappointingly ended all the way around and needs to be presented to a younger age group.
I was so disappointed with the ending. I liked how Fang came back and him and Max were together again but what about the rest of the characters what happened to them???
I feel as if the ending was rushed. As if Patterson was trying to meet a deadline and quickly wrote whatever came to his head. There is no closure. What happened to the rest of the flock? What happened to Max's family? It was great that Max ended up with Fang but seriously, the readers are not so shallow to be satisfied so easily.
The series was amazing! the ending needs to be redone.
