*grumble* I've been moving so I forgot to do this at the half month, but here we are.

Throw out any September suggestions you have!

AND THERE ARE NONE.

message 3: by Helen (new)

Helen Damnation | 15 comments I have a copy of The Edible Woman by Margaret Atwood in my to read pile, so that maybe?

I nominate Gone Girl. I heard it's really good.

I'll go ahead and suggest a Gillian Flynn since she's so popular on ONTD right now...her book Sharp Objects is on sale at target right now so I picked that up:

Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

Mira (miratl) | 1 comments It's the next book on my reading list, so FanGirl by Angel Lawson.

FanGirl by Angel Lawson

message 8: by Laura (new)

Laura W. (yoyoteacher) | 2 comments I'm going to throw Divergent by Veronica Roth into the mix. Another book that keeps getting pushed down on my to-read list because I'm on a reader list for the 6-8 grade reader Missouri book award. I figure if I have others reading it with me I'll be more likely to finish it.

The Glass Castle

message 10: by Desiree (new)

Desiree (saiita) | 5 comments I really like I Am Not A Serial Killer, it's rare to find Paranormal Horror YA that's actually good and engaging.

Jess (jesmy777) Laura wrote: "I'm going to throw Divergent by Veronica Roth into the mix. Another book that keeps getting pushed down on my to-read list because I'm on a reader list for the 6-8 grade reader Missouri book award...."

I've read that twice this year. It's really great.

message 12: by Jess (new)

Jess (jesmy777) I'm going to suggest A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness . I want to re-read it so I can read the sequel.

message 13: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 1 comments How about The Master and Margarita - by Mikhail Bulgakov? Just started reading it and it's really good so far. The woman who translated it did a fantastic job.

White Teeth because it was a quarter and is supposed to be one of those books that changes your life. Or something like that.

Or for the snark read...

Between You and Me: A Novel because apparently it massively rips off Britney's meltdown.

message 16: by Fran (last edited Aug 26, 2012 05:57PM) (new)

Fran (narflet) | 36 comments Good suggestions, I like them all, several are on my 'to read' list. I just read Divergent (and Insurgent) and really enjoyed them. I'm going to suggest Frankenstein again.

Also, there's no non-fictions suggestion, so I'll throw in a few:

* Londoners: The Days and Nights of London Now--As Told by Those Who Love It, Hate It, Live It, Left It, and Long for It (because I keep seeing this everywhere)
* Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?
* and The Mitfords: Letters between Six Sisters as a not-entirely-to-be-taken-seriously suggestion as it's massive and not available as an ebook (as far as I know), but I've wanted to read it for ages.

message 17: by Jelly (new)

Jelly City of Thieves because it was fantastic.

message 18: by Marie (new)

Marie (fyeahmarie) | 125 comments Seconding Gone Girl; that's also on my to-read list. But it's going to be hard for me to get into something new right now after just finishing His Dark Materials (I'm still recovering, tbh). I'm about to tackle Paradise Lost.

message 19: by Gabby (new)

Gabby (gaaabbers) I second divergent, been meaning to read it for a while.

Actually, I am going to suggest Cloud Atlas, too. Gotta be ready for the movie.

probs tomorrow when i'm not too tired to create it

message 22: by Nina (new)

Nina Sedlacek (ninasedlacek) | 19 comments Insurgent by Veronica Roth as a snark read.
Something by Gillian Flynn for fiction or this new YA novel Every Day by David Levinthan that I saw was getting some positive reviews.

Basically, some easy reads for those of us bogged down with schoolwork/work in general in September, womp womp.

message 23: by Rosalyn (new)

Rosalyn (rosalynhummel) Thirding Gone Girl, I've had it recommended to me a lot lately

Alicia (is beyond tired of your *ish) (ostensiblya) | 71 comments Haha, finally people want to read Gone Girl. I fourth that nomination (again) since I'm 70% done with it right now. ;)

I also want to see your reactions. I'll be here for hand-holding.

message 25: by Kate (new)

Kate agreeing with gone girl, just finished it and enjoyed it a lot.

i'm going to second the master and margarita. have been wanting to read that for a while.

message 26: by Marie (new)

Marie (fyeahmarie) | 125 comments I also wouldn't mind The Master and Margarita; that's on my to-read list as well.

message 27: by Diandra (new)

Diandra (ardnaid) | 4 comments If it's not too late, I've seen 'The Glimpse' being snarked about lately.

I'd also throw in a vote for Gone Girl. :3

i think i'm honestly too run down right now to bother making three different polls and we don't have a large amount for each category so right now i'm just going to make the poll for general ficiton. if one of the other mods wants to make the other polls they can but i don't think there's enough to vote on to justify three different book categories
