Who writes the best paranormal books?

My favorite paranormal authors are Richelle Mead, and Karen Marie Moning. Not only do these two authors create phenomenal worlds, but they also write about characters that I can easily relate to, cry with, and laugh at. These two ladies rarely ever disappoint me with their series! Go check them out if you haven't already heard of them :)Richelle Mead Karen Marie Moning

Hmmmmm....I do agree with all of these selections, but I MUST add Juliet Marillier and Nalini Singh. Marillier has such an eloquent writing and storytelling style that I can't read enough of her books. And, Singh, well...if you haven't read any of her books, you're totally missing out.

I will have to check them out! You have great taste, so I know I will probably like them. :)

Oh Steph how could I forget about Juliet Marillier and Nalini Singh?! It's blasphemous! They are on my top favorite list too. You think I would have remembered them seeing as how I'm retreading the Sevenwaters series as we speak!

Ahhhh, the Sevenwaters series. SON OF SHADOWS is still one of my all-time favorite books ever. I can't wait to read her new one, SHADOWFELL. :)

Oh Barrons! I just can't even begin to describe my love for Barrons haha! I would suggest "Of Swine and Roses" and then "Silver Shark" to start you off :D

I KNOW! I can't keep up. Besides the fact that I'm writing two novels right now. Geez, I need more hours in the day. Or if I could just do without sleep I'd be fine. :)

Pfft sleep's overrated, Stephanie! Just introduced my best friend to Goodreads, she's been on it for the past hour!

Goodreads has been quite a life changer for me. More and more of my money seems to find its way to B&N's cash registers!

Ha, ha, ha! So true. Sleep, schmeep. Of course, I'm trying to cram writing in the mix with reading. Lately, more writing. Trying to meet my deadline for RESISTANCE. I wish we had 48-hour days. That would be a big help. Putting that on my fantasy wish-list. ;)

Yeah, B&N is a danger zone for me. I walk in, smell the books, and I'm suddenly a predator on the prowl. (Oooo, alliteration.)

Cherie (cherielord) | 13 comments Wow, I guess I need to broaden my reading choices. I jump around a lot in my selections as I read mainly to escape. I don't like to read anything heavy unless I have the time to devote to it. I hate having to stop. My all time favorite would have to be Anne Rice. She paints such vivid pictures with her words and I love that a lot of her stories are set in New Orleans. I'm currently trying to finish Inheritance by Christopher Paolini. Love Cassandra Clare and PC and Kristen Cast. The House of Night series is AMAZING and I'm on pins and needles waiting for Hidden to be released along with Resistance!!! (Hint, hint Steph!!!!!)

message 23: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (cherielord) | 13 comments OMG, how could I forget Sherrilyn Kenyon! Another author that sets her books in New Orleans. Her characters overlap from her Paranormal Romance genre to YA/teen. I've read most of her Dark Hunter series and am anxiously awaiting her next installment in her Chronicles of Nick series!!!

Love, love, love Kenyon! I have all of her adult books and the first two of Nick's. I just didn't feel as much of a connection with the YA Nick, but I still plan on reading them. Which couple is your favorite?

message 25: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (cherielord) | 13 comments Love Nick! A little worried about where she's taking him. I would have to guess my favorite character from the Dark Hunter series would be Ash as he's featured in almost every story. I guess what really clinched the Nick series for me is when she mentioned Fifi Mahoneys. Its a wig store on Royal St where the Berry Queens buy a lot of their wigs! You can tell she lived there for a while. Her descriptions of the area are spot on and I can relate to the story better since I've actually been there!

Ha! You guys already named all my faves! Moning, Kenyon, STEPH, Marillier and now- Singh (thanks for the rec, Steph! I am on 1st book!), and of course C. Harris!!! (Sookie). Oh also- of course I enjoyed Twilight- but did any of you read The Host? That book totally haunts me, I think about it ALL THE TIME. It was really good.

I read The Host and I loved it! I think she is writing two more which I can't wait to read, especially with how it ended.

message 29: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (cherielord) | 13 comments I didn't care for The Host. Its been so long since I read it and I've read soooooo many other books since that I can't remember what exactly it was that turned me off.
