This is a great opportunity by the way. I've emailed this to other authors. I however, refuse to have my book read so closly after Ilona Andrews! The competition is unfair!!:-)

In fact, please share the email with Ilona Andrews. :D I would love to have her as the author-leader. I'd be all fangirl over it and know MrsJ would too!
I am ready, willing and able!Foster Fox, A 10,000 Lakes Tale is the perfect choice for this groups read, for 1....
1. I have made this book available for FREE download, so if this book is chosen, no group member will have to spend a dime to get it. Not even 1 brown penny!
2. It is the shortest chapter book ever written in the history of books of any genre, which means that any member whether they like to read or not can finish this book front to back in 1 day, even read it twice in 1 day!!!
3. I am not afraid to have this book follow any other book chosen as a read, my readers have spoken out in the form of reviews that this book was very moving and captivating and one reader/author compared this book to the work of the Great Rudyard Kipling.
4. This book is sure to become a timeless classic among children, young adults, and readers in general.
Now, with that said, I do not have 35 comments yet, but I am sure I can make this so, before the decision is made.
I appreciate the opportunity to nominate my book for the October Featured Author Read. I'm happy to lead a discussion about Dragon Fate if there are people in the group interested in reading it.

Hi William!
I'm sorry but you can't simply go around slinging comments just to participate in this event. This is meant for authors who actually participate with our group on a regular basis.
If you want to become a regular face, we'd love to see you more often.

I just joined the group Mrs. Joseph, I actually just joined Goodreads properly as well. I did not how to submit my book as a featured read and I decided that this was opportunity knocking at my door, so I began to open it.
Is there any way a new group member or member of the Goodreads community can get around the suggested 35 comment stipulation? Like say, maybe putting it to a vote?
I'll nominate my book Sunset, if people find it suitable. It's a blend of urban fantasy, speculative fiction, and gay paranormal romance (non-explicit). And yes, it has vampires in it, but they don't sparkle. PG for strong language. If chosen, I would be happy to provide a 100% discount code for the Smashwords edition, which is available in multiple formats, as well as a limited number of free print editions for those who prefer them.
Book Blurb:
By Day
Los Angeles, 2040. When the terrorist known as Medusa threatens to kill millions with a stolen nuclear bomb, Nick Jameson makes a fateful decision. He reveals himself on global television as a Daywalker – a vampire with a soul. To save Los Angeles, Nick exposes not only his own gifts but three separate cultures based on millennia-old magic.
By Night
The three metahuman races exist in careful balance, working to maintain a fragile peace. Nick and his fellow Daywalkers successfully master their natural bloodlust. The Sentinels, armed with both magic and steel, repress their warlike instincts. And even some Nightwalkers, normally their natural enemies, have deserted the Court of Shadows to join the triple alliance. Nick Jameson is deeply involved with two such Nightwalkers – handsome Lorcan and powerful Rory. Both men love Nick. But neither can protect the new Ambassador to Humanity from the events he has set in motion.
By the Sword
Jeremy Harkness was lured into Medusa’s service under false pretenses. A loner with no one and nothing to cling to, he was willing to die for his cause. But the night Medusa tried to obliterate Los Angeles, Jeremy met Nick Jameson, triggering the onset of his own psychic gifts. For Jeremy is the third type of metahuman, a Sentinel, born to kill the Nightwalkers with no quarter asked or offered. And neither Medusa nor the Court of Shadows will settle for peace when they can make war…
MrsJoseph wrote: "No."LMAO! I see you left no gray area of ambiguity with that answer....
BUT, I wonder. Is that a soft "No" or a hard, erect "No"?
On another note, Sunset sounds pretty good! Cool concept Arshad.

OMG. I hate you.
You know I love some "hard, erect 'no'."
J.D. I love dragons and magic!!Arshad I haven't read any vampire novels recently but as long as they don't sparkle, I'm up for that!
I would already be a difficult choice ;-)

Ilona Andrews currently has a restraining order against me. . .I'm not allowed to contact them. :-(
It was a little misunderstanding about me sleeping on their front yard and holding up a sign that said, "Will clean, sing, and/or dance for another Curran scene."
A serious misunderstanding...but I have another year until the Order is done...and new markers & a sleeping bag.
BHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Kim,It's always great to find someone else who loves dragons and magic! I hope my writing can do them justice in your eyes.
It's nice to know I have at least a shot at getting more than one vote in the poll, now, too. ;)
Aloha Group ♥Wanted to introduce myself :) Joined the group because the name. The first book that got me hooked was 25 years ago, in 7th grade, at the grocery store, I saw Terry Brooks' "Magic Kingdom For Sale. Sold!" My favorite daydream became finding an amulet of my own into a fantasy world just like that.
Remember the book that made you a Fantasy Aficionado?
Best Wishes

I want to nominate The Steel Queen, the first book in The Silk & Steel Saga. This is the second time I've posted this for nomination on this thread, but my other post is not appearing for some mysterious reason. My books are getting excellent reviews on Goodreads. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11...
So.I want to Nominate Janny Wurts' To Ride Hell's Chasm. I did get permission.
Janny has been an active member of Fantasy Aficionados for a few years now. She's always been kind, friendly and very professional. I know Janny will lead a rousing discussion.
When Princess Anja fails to appear at her betrothal banquet, the tiny, peaceful kingdom of Sessalie is plunged into intrigue. Two warriors are charged with recovering the distraught king's beloved daughter. Taskin, Commander of the Royal Guard, whose icy competence and impressive life-term as the Crown's right-hand man command the kingdom's deep-seated respect; and Mykkael, the rough-hewn newcomer who has won the post of Captain of the Garrison - a scarred veteran with a deadly record of field warfare, whose "interesting" background and foreign breeding are held in contempt by court society. As the princess's trail vanishes outside the citadel's gates, anxiety and tension escalate. Mykkael's investigations lead him to a radical explanation for the mystery, but he finds himself under suspicion from the court factions. Will Commander Taskin's famous fair-mindedness be enough to unravel the truth behind the garrison captain's dramatic theory: that the resourceful, high-spirited princess was not taken by force, but fled the palace to escape a demonic evil?

As far as I know, you never commented on this thread. You PM'd me instead of commenting on this thread.
I have thought quite a bit about you and I have quite a few concerns. The link that you are so concerned about - sending to your friends - will be present on this poll as well. I can not remove it. I wish to God I could. If you email your friends, your book will be disqualified. Any author found soliciting votes outside of this group will be disqualified.
Carol and I have discussed and we will let this nomination stand but we will be monitoring all votes very closely. Please don't disappoint us.

Mrs Joseph - thank you very much, your nomination is a complete delight - I have JUST returned from a busy and fun time at DragonCon - and as a member of this group from its early days, it is all the more heartwarming to participate as a writer.
What were the results of this poll??? I never saw it posted. Not the winner, but the votes per book???
Karen, it is posted if you link on the polls. We disqualified a number of your voters who joined the group the day they voted in the poll.

It’s time for the next Fantasy Aficionados Featured Author Read! Just in case you need a refresher, here’s a recap:
Here’s the rules for this read but please be aware we will change the format based on group feedback:
1) Authors: Please sign up in this thread to have your book entered into consideration for the group read. Any author nominating their book must be an active member of the group. This means you must have 35 or more comments in order to participate. SPAM posts do not count and will you get you deleted from the group, so please refrain from spamming the group just to get comments.
2) Your book must be accessible to the entire group. This means print and ebook availability. This also means that your book must be available in multiple digital formats as well. Formats required: print, .ePub and .mobi.
3) FA Members will vote as usual for the group read. Authors are allowed to vote for their book but are NOT allowed to try to drum up support from non-FA group members (no friends, family, etc. This is for FA group members only). If it is discovered that authors spam others to drum up additional support, their book will be disqualified, period.
Once the group votes, we will do the group read as usual.
4) Free Books: If any author would like to give away copies of their book, please PM me with the information.
5) Members are allowed to nominate books (and thus authors) for this group read. There is a catch: The member MUST have the agreement of the author to participate. In other words, get permission first.
