Severus Snape!

I know he gets redeemed and he was really a good guy in the end, but he is a seriously petty dude. He didn't need to treat Harry so badly.

Well if you think about it, Harry is, in his eyes, half the reason why Lily died. And he had pretty much the hugest crush ever on Lily. If you felt like someone was responsible for the death of basically the one person you really loved and didn't even love you back... You wouldn't be giving them VIP treatment would you?
And he's been protecting Harry from the very first book, without Snape Harry would have never been able to destroy all the horcruxus and defeat Voldermort....

I've never looked at it that way. I always saw Snape as feeling really guilty about Lily's death- blaming himself more than Harry. After all, if he hadn't told Voldemort about the prophecy, Voldemort wouldn't have been going after them as much. He would still be going after them - they denied him three times - but he wouldn't have cared quite as much. That's why Snape turns spy; he feels guilty and wants to redeem himself.

Ok it's been a long time since I've read the books so maybe I missed out that fact but are you sure Snape was the one who told Voldemort about the prophecy? Ok I'm just going to say you're right about that because I don't remember and you probably are right. But, he didn't turn spy out of guilt, he turned spy because he needed Dumbledore to protect Lily. But even so, the fact still remains that Harry has been helped by Snape a lot, even from the first book when Snape tried to keep Harry from falling off his broom during the quidditch game.

He does help him, sure, but he seems to take pleasure from taking points off of Harry and giving him detentions for no real reason. He confiscates a book from Harry because he has it outside, and there is no way that's an actual rule. And he takes points off for potions that are described as much better than at least Crabbe and Goyle's potions. And during occlumency lessons he hardly tries to teach Harry anything at all. Admittedly, Harry doesn't try very hard to learn, but constantly attacking his mind isn't going to help Harry learn.

Okay okay, let's not start a whole debate about this... this is to FANGIRL/BOY not to attack characters others like ok? No one likes to argue, especially when it's defending something some keeps insisting is bad or whatever. And it's not really the best way to make friends either... To each their own :)
So who's your favorite character since you don't like Snape?
