A bunch of horror novels are on my (un)official to-read list, but I'll limit my suggestions to only three:
The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty
The Shining by Stephen King
Battle Royale by Koushun Takami
Your turn now :)

Ring by Koji SuzukiI quite liked this book. It's more inline with the Japanese version of the film rather than the Americanized one. Suppose it could be your choice which version to watch.
Cujo by Stephen KingLoved this one! I suppose the book doesn't quite cut the "horror" mustard but the film should. Haven't seen it yet, though.
Christine by Stephen KingI foresee lots of King on this list. This one I haven't read or seen, but it's on my list.

Actually on first glimpse I see there are three feature length adaptations, one short, so it definitely qualifies :) Although they seem a bit obscure, meaning hard to find. But maybe even some scenes available on youtube might apply, or other stuff inspired by the novel. In any case qualifies :D
Very good suggestions so far :)

Yes, we did Heart of Darkness, it was one of our first Quick Reads - you can see the discussion here:

Of course, you still can read it and add something to the discussion :)

Great links, thanks! I've seen there are really newer adaptations - one made 1967 and the other 1980, but both are impossible to find, at least not in full. There is also one short feature from Jirí Barta, that was a trailer for planned but never realized feature length film, available on YouTube.
Pity for all this stuff, it all looks really interesting.

There may not be many horror movies adapted from novels, but since we didn't have any so far (wouldn't really count The Turn of the Screw), any we choose would be perfect.
So, let's start with nominations :)
P.S. November goes to classics. Now that would require some more thought, as there are many worth to read and see. Well, at least we have time to think about it! Now it's time for spooks and scares :)
