Lacey (crazdwriter) I don't if anyof you can help me but I thought I would ask because I am at my wits end with my one 5 yr old torti shell cat, Sasha And I don't know what to do. It started years ago after my husband went on his 6 month deployment due to bring military and being attached to a ship. He came back and ever since then she has been hissing at him for no reason. She gets in trouble by him she'll hiss then pee. And she has peed on him, one, in our bed, on our couch and now is peeing in front of the door to our guest too, where we keep the foster kittens. We have scolded her, put her intime out in our bathroom, and have used the bad kitty bottle but nothing is working. I am to the point where even though I love her very much I am ready to give her up for adoption because my husband and I are trying to start a family and if I do get pregnant I can't have her peeing all the time with the baby.

Help please?

Nora aka Diva (DuctTapeDiva) | 500 comments start by making sure there isn't an organic cause, she could have an infection. Cats also pee out of anger. She maybe having feelings of being left out and is reacting badly. I am short on time but I will get back to this later tonite.

Becca (goblinfan) | 402 comments Nora is right, you might want to take her to the vet first. A lot of behaviorial issues with cats are caused by a health related problem.
And believe it or not, there are animal therapists out there so you could try looking into that.

When I came home from boot camp, my cat Grizzley wouldn't go near me. He never fully warmed up to me after that. I was gone for 5 months, and my family moved while I was away. I'm sure that had something to do with it, but it stilled bothered me that my cat didn't seem to recognize me but our other cat did.

Lacey (crazdwriter) Thanks guys she's not going to like me for taking her to the vet lol

So how's the car doing? Still making a fuss, or was it a health issue? Hope everyone is well.

message 6: by Lacey (new)

Lacey (crazdwriter) Haven't had a chance to take her in. I am trying to some drops in her food and water to help her stay calm though she has peed again. So next week will be the vet if I can steal some time away to do it

I thought this was about a cat not a car :-)

Becca (goblinfan) | 402 comments lol oh god, I just now noticed I put car instead of cat.

Becca (goblinfan) | 402 comments Have your hubby try to win her over with food. Perhaps if he's the only one that feeds her, gives her treats when she's not peeing or hissing at him, she'll warm up to him again. Perhaps playing with her more often will also help. Has she been fixed or is she intact? Has she been introduced to the kittens?

Here are some sites that might be able to help you. There might be some information or someone with a similar problem to yours. It always helps to do some research.

message 12: by Lacey (new)

Lacey (crazdwriter) Sadly we've tried that with Hubby giving the food and being nice to her. He is totally hot and old mostly cold with him still even with him doing that.

And thanks for the websites I'll definitely check them out

message 13: by Nora aka Diva (new)

Nora aka Diva (DuctTapeDiva) | 500 comments So the vet didn't find anything?

Sounds like the cat is for some reason angry with him.

message 14: by Lacey (new)

Lacey (crazdwriter) W think it s because when we adopted her, he left for 6 months...so she might feel like he abandoned her. But I have to take her to the vet. I think she might have a...my mind is blank but she is peeing blood now so I need to take her in. It need to find a new vet because my vet hasn't called me back to get up an appointment. So yea I know they get busy but I called early in the morning and left a message. Usually they call back but not this time and they haven't been really good the past two times I've gone.

message 15: by Nora aka Diva (new)

Nora aka Diva (DuctTapeDiva) | 500 comments yeah that's sounds like a massive bladder or urinary tract infection, especially if she is passing blood. I would find a new vet ASAP because at this point it is most likely very painful for her!

message 16: by Nora aka Diva (new)

Nora aka Diva (DuctTapeDiva) | 500 comments It took months to get Ephiny re-socialized very slowly after her bladder infection because of how bad it got before we realized, she too was peeing blood and that's when I noticed the problem. We had to leave her in a room with a liter box by herself alot because she didn't want to be around the other cats or people, even after the meds worked. She is much better now but for awhile I wasn't sure if she would ever feel like coming out of that one bedroom.

message 17: by Lacey (last edited Oct 16, 2012 08:33PM) (new)

Lacey (crazdwriter) I am going to see if the food helps. I changed her food to the special food that I had to put her on before when she had a UTI but if she doesn't get better by Friday I'll give my new vet a call. So not going to my stupid vet I use to. Jerks! A called yesterday and didn't get a call today so yea I'm not happy with them. They've done that before so bye bye to them.

message 18: by Nora aka Diva (new)

Nora aka Diva (DuctTapeDiva) | 500 comments Honestly unless that food has an antibiotic in it, once the infection has gotten to the bleeding point it won't help. That cat needs an antibiotic just like you or I would in the same situation.

message 19: by Lacey (new)

Lacey (crazdwriter) I'll call today then

Hearing this, I don't think I ever want to get a pet again :-( this is just too much. I'll play with the neighbor's pets instead.

message 21: by Becca (new)

Becca (goblinfan) | 402 comments So Lacey how is your cat doing?

And is anyone interested in a 2 to 3 week old kitten? Its an orange and white tabby.

Did you find that cat in the bushes?

message 23: by Becca (new)

Becca (goblinfan) | 402 comments Yes Dustin. I've also found said kitten a home yesterday! So glad thats over with...

message 24: by Lacey (new)

Lacey (crazdwriter) She is still peeing on the rug. She had to have surgery for bladder stones but she's still doing it. Doctor wants us to do an x-ray to make sure they aren't back but they also did the urine and showed nothing so...yea

message 25: by Becca (new)

Becca (goblinfan) | 402 comments Wow that sucks...sotty to hear that.

message 26: by Lacey (new)

Lacey (crazdwriter) No worries...I'm thinking meds will help. She hasn't done it in a few days so that's good. I'm thinking also her knowing that the baby is on her way is helping her. She is very protective and snugly with me, following me around and wanting to be with me constantly.

I just haven't had good experiences with cats. I think they have agendas and I had a cat who peed on my pillows when she was mad at me. I am looking forward to my pet hedgehog though because they are just so cute cute cute.

message 30: by Lacey (new)

Lacey (crazdwriter) Aaa I want a baby hedgehog! I didn't know you could have them as pets! You HAVE to post pictures when you finally get him or her, Dustin...I wanna see!

Hedgehogs are illegal in some states but certainly not in Colorful Colorado. Lots of things are legal here because we are very liberally minded :-) Come visit if you want some pot.

message 32: by Lacey (new)

Lacey (crazdwriter) Lol no thanks I'm not a pot person. I'm a hedgehog person hehehe little critters are my weakness...oh wait all critters are my weakness. Lol
