Jessi, is this discussion thread

1) for Authors to request reviews OR
2) for Reviewers to solicit books to be reviewed OR
3) for Reviewers to simply publicly share their current reading queue

? Seems like all three activities would be worthwhile threads but I think it might be more productive for all involved to keep them all separate -- and this thread is already shaping up nicely as a #3 thread so if you want my 2 cents (you're gonna get it anyway ;-) I'd say keep this as a #3 and set up a separate thread (each) for #1 and #2.

Also if you keep this as a #3 list of TBR queues, should we include links to our already-written reviews here on Goodreads? That might be a good way to share reviews, just make the titles that have reviews into links that people can click if they want to see your style of reviewing and read your thoughts on a particular title.

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 176 comments Currently reading Sanctus by Simon Toyne and I am about 60% finished, but slow going now that I am back to work

My TBR list is quite extensive, but here are the ones that are most likely to be read sooner:

The Key by Simon Toyne after I finish Sanctus

Insurgent (Divergent, #2) by Veronica Roth

Tracing Stars by Erin E. Moulton

Love Anthony by Lisa Genova

Bloodline A Sigma Force Novel by James Rollins

Vengeance (The Tainted Realm, #1) by Ian Irvine

Fallen (Fallen, #1) by Lauren Kate

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

The Priest (The Ginecean Chronicles) by Monica La Porta

The Treeman (The Hanningdon Magic Series, #1) by Kaye Vincent

Eyes Behind Belligerence by K.P. Kollenborn

The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap by Paulette Mahurin

I'll stop there because I have SO many that it's absolutely impossible to list all of them. Additionally, I have no idea of the order I'll read these except The Key will come after Sanctus.

Excellent question I should have clarified there are different sections. This one is where the folks who will be posting reviews to the group can list them.
Check Out my discussion in the Reviews Wanted folder to request/suggest reviews from me &/or read about that section and: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

I will also be sending out a group email for other reviewers to start a discussion topic. That way the authors can request a review from who ever they want. Does that make a little sense?

Vered (vered_ehsani) Wow, I'm impressed with the rather long list of books from Jessi and Rhea and Vicki! I definitely don't get through that many books in a hurry. Although I have started reading more since I got a Kindle. I think it's the large font size option (easy on the aging eyes!!!).

I've got a fair number of books on My Book list that I've reviewed over the past year. I tend to read a few books at a time, and then sit down and in a great flurry, write and post the reviews together. So I'll be doing that this week... Or so I threaten.

Well, Vered, I didn't claim that I'd breeze through these books! I'm not on vacation and I'm not a fast reader, so the list is my fantasy list of TBR books that I WISH I could fly through. But I'll read them ASAP. I have far too many books on my list. Goodreads has RUINED me! LOL

That's dangerous! I actually pushed my self to read 300 romance novels in 3 months (about 1.8 a day) in 2006 so I could figure out from a widely spread sample (across 20 yrs and across subgenres) what exactly it IS that makes a book a "romance" (definition by the RWA was way too vague, it could be anything with a HEA). Ever since doing that, I've needed to wear reading glasses. I'd never worn glasses before in my life so this really shocked me a week or so later when I could no longer just pick things up and see them. I'd just thought my eyes needed a rest and a week's break would be enough, but nooo..

Of course it also didn't help that I was 46 at the time and they say around or over 40 your eyes get "tired" and people generally need reading glasses, so technically, I was 6 yrs past due. I just was NOT ready to start losing my eyesight!! Still am not but that's definitely why I don't read a book in a day (while also getting errands and other things done) anymore. It's no longer easy on my eyes.

That's a phenomenal stat, Jessi, but please be careful to guard your precious eyes. Obviously, you're someone who, like me, would REALLY be bothered by having to use glasses to read!

Terri ♥ (aka Mrs. Christian Grey) (mybookboyfriend) | 13 comments I've read 180 books this year, so I won't post them all here. Currently I have about 30-40 books to review. I won't post them all here either. But it will be interesting to see what everyone is reading.

Terri ♥ (aka Mrs. Christian Grey) (mybookboyfriend) | 13 comments If I have all day depending on the length of the book, I can read 1-4 books a day.

Terri ♥ (aka Mrs. Christian Grey) (mybookboyfriend) | 13 comments LOL! I usually do my reviews on the weekend. So they tend to pile up.

Vicki, what counts is that you read, think about and discuss books--NOT how many of them or how quickly. Quality time, not quantity, right? :)

I'd take one quality thoughtful review over 10 "Okay, I liked/didn't like this!" comments anyday!

Thank you for that, Marjorie. You are absolutely right! I read Still Alice during the summer, and since then I have wanted to read EVERYTHING in sight! She (Lisa Genova) changed my life!

I think I needed to hear those words of encouragement. Is this group becoming my therapy session? LOL

I hate it when people write generic reviews that could cover almost ANY book!

Jax Um,
Okay, I can't put up all the books I've read this year - as they total over 80...
But I can give an idea of what is on my TBR pile - which (thanks to Goodreads) is rather long.. LOL

I've just finished Micro
And I'm starting the Jim Butcher series Dresden Files - as my hubby has been nagging me to read them for a while :)
Grave Peril (The Dresden Files, #3) by Jim Butcher Summer Knight (The Dresden Files, #4) by Jim Butcher Death Masks (The Dresden Files, #5) by Jim Butcher
Thereafter I want to read the following:
Red Seas Under Red Skies
The Ambassador's Mission
The Rogue
The Traitor Queen
Ashes of Honor
Widow’s Web
Hounded
The Anatomy of Criticism
Masque of the Red Death
The Graveyard Book

Grave Peril completed : My Review of Grave Peril
Summer Knight Completed.

I'll update if I happen to add anything else in between:D
Finally received the Kevin Hearne Series.
Sadly still waiting for Estep and McGuire to arrive:(

I'll add to this list in the order in which I plan to read and/or review books. I'll do like Jessi and strikethrough once I've posted a review and I'll add a link to the list so you can read my review, if you're interested.

I'm going to possibly get more sent to me monthly by the LibraryThing Early Reviewer (LTER) program, but if you have a book you want me to review, please message me (preferably as Webbiegrrl Writer) here on Goodreads (on here 1-2 times a week) or on Twitter @webbiegrrl (on 1-2 times daily) I estimate a 3-6 month queue for books and reviews added from this point forward.

1) The Search by Nora Roberts The Search by Nora Roberts (romance) *** (3 out of 5 stars)
(read, Aug 27-Sep 17, read my review ) Got this because I love animals, esp. working dogs.

2) Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts (romance)
(starting to read Sep 20) Got this because I love firefighters - who doesn't?

Abandoned. I'm sure it's a good book at some level, but this failed to grab me enough to distract me from the myriad of other things going on. I've read 3 other books (beginning to end) in the same time it took me to move through 9 pages of this one. So...didn't finish. Might try again at some future date.

3) She Belongs To Me by Carmen DeSousa She Belongs To Me by Carmen DeSousa (romance)
(not yet read) Got this because she's an author friend of mine.

4) Tracking Shadows (Shadows of Justice, #4) by Regan Black Tracking Shadows by Regan Black (paranormal romance)
(not yet read) Got this because she's an author friend of mine and THIS is the cover that inspired me for my soon-to-be written Romantic Suspense covers :) I plan to use her cover artist.

5) Kidnapped by Rick Chesler Kidnapped by Rick Chesler (technothriller)
(not yet read) Got this because the Genetic Engineering aspect of this got my attention; don't know this Indie Author but got a free copy to read/review so figured why not.

6) Season Of The Harvest by Michael R. Hicks Season Of The Harvest by Michael R. Hicks (technothriller)
(not yet read) Got this because I love thrillers and although I don't like Mike's SciFi all that much, this technothriller looked REALLY good - try out the first paragraph of the first page and you'll see what I mean! Wow. Plus I got it when it was free :)

40 book is a formidable list and certainly NOT cause for embarrassment! I'm hoping to get to even HALF of my 6 this year!! Yeah, reading 3 books in the next 4 months is going to be SERIOUSLY challenging. I'm trying to write/edit/release another book of my own between now and New Year's.

Vicki, this is Sarah / Friday / Webbiegrrl :) Confused yet? I have to confess, I did do an excellent job separating my two personas, and I do try to "think" like the name I'm writing, but honestly, if I'm going to start reading and reviewing books again, I can't keep "myselves" separate (LOL)

I try to write at least a sentence or two about everything I read, but that number I gave (around 40 books) is just my review books I have either overdue or scheduled. That number does not include any of the 'personal reading' books.

The ones I get sent by publishers I write reviews for. Personal reading sometimes just depends on the book.

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) | 123 comments Only about 5 of the books on that list are from publishers, the rest are directly from the authors. My 'group' blog has become popular pretty quickly, and between it and my personal blog, and just friendships with multiple Indy authors, I get offered approximately 1-4 'new-to-me' books for review each week. I've started telling authors that my turn around time is about 2 months or more at this point. And I found to avoid burnout I have to squeeze in a 'personal' book every 2 weeks or so.

Some of the books I review are also considered a personal book, so I'm lucky in that aspect. I try to stick with writing 1 -2 reviews every other day. Plus I write them all in a word document so that (whenever I get the chance) all I have to do is copy and paste into goodreads.

Alana, it's totally "normal" to have a review turnaround time of 3-6 months. That's not how long it takes you to read, but how long it takes you to get to the book in your queue AND to get the review written and posted. Don't feel badly about a 2-month turnaround (and any author who gripes about a 2-month turnaround needs to get in touch with the real world. Professional reviewers for magazines, newspapers and the like as well as libraries insist on receiving ARCs at least 6 mos in advance of the release of the book. Two measly months is great :)

That appears to be a group, not a Page, Jessi--and apparently it's a private group only members can even see/access.

Did you want/mean to make a Community Page that would be public and we could all "like"? Do that here:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php

Let me know if you set up a Page and I'll "like" it :)
