Not familiar with Pinterest? {Be warned: it's insanely addicting!}

Pinterest is a Virtual Pinboard.

Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.

Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.

I think Pinterest would be another fun way for us to share our love of books. Some boards are mod-only, but the majority of the boards will be SOS community boards - open to all of our members.

See our Pin Board list below. Let us know which board(s) you'd like to join and I'll set ya up*. If you'd like to see new boards added, let us know that too. Since the board will be maintained by us, I ask that you please be respectful of others with your pins. And, do not pin spam. Spammers will be removed.

Remember, you don't have to pin, you can just browse the beauty. I encourage everyone to comment on the pins of others, Pinterest is a social site after all. Remember to give credit where credit is due; if you know the source/author/illustrator/artist of a picture, please include it.

Oh....I think we need an International Cover category...

I seem to be missing a step...how DO we pin to SOS's board? I keep getting my account, and can't seem to pin there.

BTW, the "Pinterest's help page" takes me to my GR home page...

Internat'l Cover Board is a great one! I'll create one today and add you as a pinner.

To be a pinner on one of the boards, I just have to add you. In order to add you as a pinner, I have to follow you (as SOS) as well. I'll add you as a pinner to all boards today. Meant to do that actually and forgot. Sorry! You should see an invite on your personal Pinterest page once I've assigned you as a pinner on the SOS boards. This is the first time I'm adding another pinner, so if it doesn't work, lemme know. :)

Ok, I've added you to all boards. On your personal Pinterest home page (where you view all of your boards), you should see an invite to the SOS boards. Once you accept the invite, you will see those boards listed on your personal Pinterest home page. :D

Found a bunch more Japanese covers than I expected...many are very manga-esque!

Good! Some I don't like so much, but it's interesting to see the different POV for covers. Some series, like Fever, are only up to the second book...would kill me to go back to WAITING forever...

Yeah, the waiting sucks! Some are great, others are meh, but it's definitely cool seeing another country's cover art. I commented on someone else's share of a Kate Daniels foreign cover and Kate (chick on the cover) looked WAY too young. Not sure if you have that one or not, can't remember.

I don't think so...Kate hasn't made it into Japanese...yet!

And I so agree about the art...think I'll check some of the "other" am*z*ns....

Those are great...I went ahead and did it for you! LOL...a little bit eager I am!

Thanks Steph :) I didnt understand some of it as first so declined some of them - thought it was just asking to follow lol and I was already doing that. Others I accepted, so if you wonder why, that's why :)

I started pinning some today and realized they were just pinned by you! LOL! Oops! I deleted mine. Now, I'm trying to remember to pay more attention to what board they've been pinned to so I don't repin on the same board.

BTW, does anyone know why your own pins show up on your following page? It is seriously annoying me. I'm not following myself and I don't need to see it b/c YEAH, I pinned it, I know what the hell it looks like.

Thanks, but that wasn't my question. So, I replied (as they said I was welcome to do) again with a repeat of my initial question. This was their reply to my 2nd email:

Yeah, uh huh. I can just picture it. One guy/gal sitting there with a million emails flowing in daily. So they set up a auto reply system to take care of it for them. :p

Anyone else see their own pins on their main "following" page?

I do. Also, when I pin something that is on my main page the little pop-up that says "1 new pin" or whatever shows up. I don't need to be told that there's a new pin if it's mine! Ya know?

LOL! Thank you! I was wondering if it was only me and/or if it didn't bug anyone else if it happened to them. If I'm pinning a lot, I try not to let the following page refresh b/c I don't want to see all of mine - only those of who I'm following. :)

Yeah I get my own pins too and it can get confusing and tie me down. I'd personally like to not see my pins either.

Maybe they'll change it in the future.

I was procrastinating a lot a bit this afternoon and so I ended up pinning some books on the 5 star boards. I didn't know who the other pinners are so I just pinned ones where we both rated the books 5 stars :)

Off topic a bit b/c SOS will not have any private boards, but for all those who would like to Pinterest now allows you to create up to 3 private boards. These boards, when marked private, will be viewable only by you and those contributing to your board.

Pinterest notes, "You can’t change a board back to secret after you’ve made it visible to everyone—and you can’t make existing boards secret." So, be sure you want to make it secret/viewable before switching status.

I'm adding another board to our Pinterest account. It'll be called "Recommended Reading". I've added Judithe, Ames, Josie, Angi and Lisa and Pinterest will send you an invite to join the board. Ames, you can post any book you'd recommended. Doesn't have to be the first in a series, but can if it was your favorite. Thanks for adding to the board!

It is addicting, Lisa Kay. I haven't been out there much in the past month or two. But, when I have a few minutes to waste it's fun to scroll around there and see what's new and pinning.

I created a new board ~ BEST OF: Urban Fantasy Series. I added the cover of the first in each series chosen by our members.

It's a bit time consuming, so I've only created the one BEST OF for now. I'll be adding a pinboard for each of our BEST OF lists found here and I'll update them as more are added. So, continue to add your favorites and scout out the lists for new ones. Remember, listopia lists have been created, as well. Members are welcome to add to both our list within SOS and the listopia on GR.

Since RL keeps me bed or sofa bound a lot of the time these days, I've been poking around Pinterest more often as a creative distraction. I've been updating our group Pinterest board. I've removed some of the boards and added others, so the listing above is no longer accurate. The link to the group account is the same: https://www.pinterest.com/seriesoverl..., so you can take a look-see. I'm slowly updating our BEST OF boards from our group lists. I've created a Challenge board with some reading challenges and bingo boards. And, I've expanded our Lit-Gear board.
