I recently purchased Cheiko N. Okazaki's Stars: Reflections on Christmas. The book changed my whole perspective on Christmas. I believe the book is no longer in print.
Sounds like a good book. I don't know much about Sister Okazaki, but I think I heard her speak in General Conference a time or two...
Anybody picked up some good LDS books - fiction or non-fiction - that they are reading over the summer?
I recently ordered a book on Amazon (because it was about 2 bucks!) called Coming to Zion
. It's published by BYU Studies and is a collection of various pioneer stories, perfect for July!

I picked up 2 at a Time Out for Women: Of Pigs, Pearls, and Prodigals: A Fresh Look At the Parables of Jesus by John Bytheway and The Christ Who Heals: How God Restored the Truth That Saves Us by Fiona Givens and Terryl Givens.I finished the first one yesterday afternoon. It will go very well with our New Testament study this year and I made notes in my Gospel Library app as I went along.
I have not yet read the second but I have 2 other books by the same authors and loved them both, so I am anticipating great things.
I enjoy John Bytheway, both his books and his audio talks and videos. He has a great way of distilling things to a simple-but-profound level that gospel learners of all levels can enjoy. I haven't read that one, but it's on my list!
I haven't read the other book, either, but I read "The Crucible of Doubt" by them a few years back and enjoyed it.
The Crucible of Doubt: Reflections On the Quest for Faith by Terryl L. Givens and Fiona Givens
Thanks for sharing, Diane!

I recently started to read the book below, and it's great, but what I really wanted to plug/discuss is the Deseret Book app. For all the free books to download (eBooks and audio books) for the $10.74 (after tax) monthly charge, I consider it well worth it.
Anyone else like/hate that app?
Here is the book:
Precept upon Precept by Robert L. Millet

I haven't taken the plunge on the app yet. I have a few friends who have it. One uses it all the time and loves it. The other was hoping it would help her become a reader and it seems you have to become a reader on your own first.
Yeah, that's my problem, too - I've downloaded a lot of books but only read them a few minutes at a time, usually while waiting for meetings to begin.
I got the app last Saturday. I'm currently listening to I Will Lead You Along: The Life of Henry B. Eyring and reading Between the Testaments: From Malachi to Matthew.I'll let you know if I feel like I'm getting enough out of the service to be worth it. If I could get my son and daughter-in-law to use it too that would help.
Thanks for the input, Diane! Let us know how those books are - both are on my radar.
For others who might want to try that app, I saw ads between conference sessions for a 30-day free trial.

I recently picked up an autographed copy for $.25! (Paul H. Dunn was a big deal when I grew up in the 1970s, so it was meaningful to me...)
