Read the Movie discussion

How can we get this group into action??? I propose nominating, then voting for, a book that has been or is about to be made into a movie ...

Any ideas? Any yeas or nays??

I'm thinking of beginning "Curious Case of Benjamin Button" by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

I do wish this group had more action. Maybe we can start a list with upcoming attractions (for example, The Lost City of Z) and current attractions (for example, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button). We could just let people know what's out there so that we could "read the movie" and then watch the movie. And then discuss as we go. Let's give this a push, shall we?

I think an interesting topic area would be movies that are better than the book. I can't think of any offhand, but that doesn't mean they're not out there.

Here are my thoughts: Right now, I'm looking for a lighter read (have been reading too many serious stories), so I've been thinking of "Confessions of a Shopaholic".

Also, for movies that are better than the book, one I feel fits that category is "Riding in Cars with Boys". I found the movie funny and the book boring.

honestly preferred the book to the movie on confessions of a shopaholic. other reads that are movies is like half of nicholas sparks books. i loved safe haven the book and i am excited for the movie for comparison

I have always felt that the Bond movies have been better then the books. I think most people would agree on that.

I can think of two instances in which I thought the movies were better than the books, which doesn't happen often. I thought that The Notebook was a better movie than book and also The Silver Linings Playbook. In both instances the characters had more personality and chemistry in the movies than in the books.

I've got to disagree about the Notebook. That was one of the rare occasions in which I couldn't say either was better than the other. I thought they were equal, which has never happened before, or again after.

I think that reading the Curious Case of Benjamin Button would be great! The movie is one of my favorites. I would like to see how the book is... sign me up for discussions :D
