I read the post, and didn't even notice the Sept, lol. Funny how your mind does that to you, huh?

At least you noticed! I must've read over it like a dozen times and skipped over the 'sept' references! D'Oh *smacks head*

A warning about the spreadsheet: the way the formula is set up, if you put an "X" under two different books in any particular shelf row, it will add them up and count them twice, giving you an incorrect number of shelves read. At first, that was messing with my planning. But it's an easy fix. Just use anything other than "X" as your mark for any books you're considering after the first one in any row -- to be sure each row only adds up to "1" in column B.

Thanks, Susan - I should've included an instruction on how to use the worksheet ;p

Ah, yea, I kinda took it for granted that most will know how to use it ;p

This is such a fun idea!! I have been in the group almost all of the four 4 years too. It is hard to believe it has been that long.

Needing help with one or two books.
I am looking for an Australian, Ancient History, Pulitzer, Medieval, Asian. Because of the Australian and Asian, I am thinking I am stuck with two books...but I am really trying to find one.
Any ideas?

You've got a really tough combination of 5 shelves there! I don't think you'll find 1 book to fit all...

LOL! Yep, I know.
The one I am actually missing is the Ancient History....so if anyone can suggest a book within the other four that would work, I would appreciate it.
Right now I have Pulitzer and Asian together and Australian and Medieval together. Need a way to work in Ancient History.
Then the challenge will be to see if my library can get it!

For Australian-Asian, you could try The Boat by Nam Le
or Mao's Last Dancer by Cunxin Li
I'll let you know if I can think of anything else

Oh, just saw the rest of your comment!
Um, your mythology book, does that not cover ancient-history too? Mine does

Nope, at least not on the first two pages of shelves.

I really wish I could devote the time to playing along with the birthday games. It looks like it's going to be so much fun.I didn't realise it but I've been here since almost the beginning (first monthly challenge was Jan 09). And SAT was one of my favourite games.
But life is pretty hectic at the moment and my studies are just taking up way too much of my time to fit in much reading for pleasure.
Hope everyone gets to read lots of interesting books so I can add them to my TBR pile for later :)

Bea, if this helps I have found this book The Fifth Beauty which covers Asian & mythology for me but is also shelved as fantasy and historical fiction but the best part is its only 19 pages long and free on kindle. I haven't read it yet but its not going to waste much of my life in any case :)
Thanks, Leonie. That looks like an interesting book, but I have those four shelves covered....it is only ancient history that I am missing. And if I could combine ancient history with either asian + pulitzer or australian + medieval, I could do a book for book swap rather than adding a book for only one shelf.
Bea wrote: "Oh, another game begins tomorrow! Will we get the description today, pretty please?"
um, not right now as I'm about to hit the sack LOL
maybe tomorrow morning (err, about 9 hours from now... ish... LOL)

I read one for ancient history for only one book. I didn't check what else it might cover, since I already had everything else. BUT I really didn't like it much, so I don't actually recommend it. It's Classics: A Very Short Introduction. My review here . But, if you're desperate, at least it is very short.

The Last Challenge: Game 5: "Timber...!! is now out :)
I hope you guys are enjoying these challenges. Hopefully, not only are challenged to read other things but to clear some of your TBRs ;)

Wow!! Can you believe it!? We’re turning 4 in October! I know it’s a bit early but I’d be busy the next few days –hubby’s bday tomorrow and then we’re away for the weekend, playing camp parents at the church’s youth camp (yep, I’ve now definitely got both feet firmly in adult/parent-hood). Lucky You! LOL Plus, you’d need some time to plan before Monday hits ;)
We definitely wouldn’t be here without all of YOU! So, we really wanted to celebrate it in a big way this year to show our appreciation for your participation.
We can’t think of anything better celebrate than to play games! And boy, have we got the games for you!
Over the next few weeks, there will be Mini Games which we’ll unveil one at a time (approximately on Mondays). Officially, each of these Games is open for a period of 4 weeks (unless stated otherwise). However, you are welcome to complete at your own pace.
Planning ahead are encouraged ;) and you may read as many books at the same time as you’d like!
Re-reads are acceptable unless otherwise stated.
Books read may NOT overlap between Games (ie. you cannot claim book A for Game 1 & 2 - only for either Game 1 or 2). You may overlap with other non-Birthday games (ie. LOST or any other challenges you are playing).
Game 1: Mini SAT – Birthday Edition
Game 2: SHELF
Game 3: Connect Three
Game 4: More, please...
Game 5: TBA – Monday, 29th Oct
Enjoy!
PS: Thanks to all mods who have worked real hard. Did you guys see our special birthday masthead? Thanks for your support, guys! XxXx
