Monica Porta | 196 comments Sarajayne, I know, I know... :)
Vicki, my state of being is 'well done' at the moment due to an epidemic of sun that has most recently hit the Northwest. The phenomenon is leaving people baffled and dogs barking, but we, the Northwesterners, are a corageous lot and went out in throngs to confront the fastidious yellow thing in the sky. As you can surmise, I'm alive although slightly sunburned. If you were asking something else, I apologize for the lenghty and useless explanation :)

Oh my, you make me laugh! I'm in sunny CA, with degrees this past week in the 90's and summertime in the high 90's to mid 100's or even higher at times.

I AM sorry about your sunburn, though. Next time when the yellow thing comes out to play, hide in the closet with your e-reader. LOL

Your list is so similar to mine! Tolkien & Poe are hands down my favorites. So much so that one of Poe's books is discussed in my first romance novel, and Tolkien made me want to write epic fantasy. S. King has been a big influence on me, as well, but that also has a lot to do with growing up in Bangor; I LOVE some of his books and not so much others. David Eddings has always been a big favorite and a big influence, as well as Robert Frost (I know, poetry, but he wrote books of them :)). Reaching far back, AA Milne and CS Lewis, because the Poo and Naria series first interested me in reading lengthier books. And, of course, there are so many others, but I won't bore you with the huge list :D.

Excellent point....Which brings me to my ulterior motive for this thread. The names that repeat the most by Oct 1st will be put into a poll to see what's the overall group favorite.
