Guest I have some questions about this book. I'm pretty sure they're stupid, but I have to ask so please excuse my ignorance.

1. I understand the beginning is Haven being sold into slavery. Where is she when Chapter One starts? She is with her mom, but is her current life being a slave? She said that her mom would come home from work bruised, but what about Haven?

2. Why does Dr. Demarco save Haven? I don't understand why he chooses her to come home with him. He knows that she was a slave?

Jenn No question is stupid! :) But just wondering, have you finished the book? If you haven't I'm not going to answer the second question...it's all revealed near the end.
But as for your first question: In Chapter 1 Haven is the daughter of a slave. She grew up in the slave quarters and has known nothing else of life. I believe that Haven did work at the plantation as well, but her Mother was treated far worse and beaten by her Master & the Master's wife. (again I hesitate to say much more, in case you haven't finished it yet)

Geez, I probably haven't helped you much. I just don't want to spoil anything. :)
Happy reading! I loved this book!

Guest Thanks so much for responding. As I'm reading further, I'm starting to understand more. I really love this book so far. I was planning on reading a little in my free time until I started a different book, just trying to feel it out, but I really got sucked into this one. I never want it to end.

P.S I love spoilers! Before I read any book, I have to see what happens, lol.

Regarding the answer to #2, the reason why Dr. DeMarco saves Haven is central to a lot of the plot, but it's a bit hard to follow. (I had to re-read 2-3 times to get it clear in my head.) You can message me if you're still not sure. But I don't want to blurt it out here and spoil it for you!

Trust me, you do not want to spoil this book. The big twists and secrets are what make this book so amazing. It's like a major puzzle and slowly but surely you're gonna be able to solve it.

ModernMaria SPOILER ALERT

I have a question, do you think Corrado was able to come out of coma? He's one of my favorite characters. And I just think that that was intentionally left unanswered in the book. I was thinking maybe he was able to because towards the end Vincent was expecting guests and I might be being too positive by saying Corrado's one of them. What do you think?

THANK YOU MARTA!!! Really, thanks. :) I'm sure I would't be able to sleep properly knowing he's still in coma. Too attached. I'm glad to know there's a sequel. :) YAY! Excited.

You are very welcome. I was totally wondering too, but (view spoiler) The sequel is going to reveal many more secrets, so I just cannot wait for it to be published. I'll be all over it the day it's released!

Dana Delamar Yay!!! That was one of my big worries at the end of the book. I'm glad to hear that he's okay.

Nataly Does anybody have an idea when the sequel is coming out? I also heard there will be a prequel of Dr Demarco and Corrado. I finished this book a few days ago and it's still haunting me...lol. One of my all time favorites:)

Dana Delamar Ooh, a prequel? Can't wait! No idea when the sequel is coming out though.

Clare Hulme I loved this book too, one of my all time favourites. She is writing a prequel and a sequel. The prequel is about Corrado. Should make good reading now we know him better.

Nataly She is making us wait too long:(

Bummer! But you never know. Maybe no movie now, but if "Sempre" grows and grows (and I'm sure it will, especially after the other books come out), Hollywood may come calling again. I think it would make a great movie!

Miep Did Carmine quite high school? I feel like it seemed that way at the end.

Liz I'm seeing really good reviews for this book- I would love to read but can't find anywhere! I would prefer an eBook but kindle saying not available? Anyone else have this problem?
