Michael I'm sure many people will be confused because there is so much similarity between "Riyria Revelations" and "Riyria Chronicles" let me try to explain here.

The Riyria Revelations is a six-book series that form one large story arc. Yes, each book has its own conflict and resolution, but in addition to that there is a larger story going on across the books and everything is finally resolved and wraps up nicely in the last book. The series consists of:

* Theft of Swords contains The Crown Conspiracy & Avempartha
* Rise of Empire contains Nyphron Rising & The Emerald Storm
* Heir of Novron contains Wintertide & Percepliquis

The Riyria Chronicles are a series of books that start 12-years before the events of The Riyria Revelations. These are more stand-alone novels and they don't lead up to some grand conclusion like Revelations does. Yes you'll get the most out of them if you read them in series, but they won't be as closely tied as the books in the Riyria Revelations. I'm not sure how many there will be (it all depends on reader demand) but currently two books are written/sold.

* The Crown Tower Aug 1, 2013
* The Rose and the Thorn Sep 5, 2013

What order should you read them in? Well it really doesn't matter. There are no spoilers that are revealed if you read The Chronicles first, although there are some "Easter eggs" that those who have read Revelations will notice that new readers may not because they don't have the context to "get" the reference.

I'm very excited to revisit with Royce and Hadrian. They are two of my favorite characters and it was fun to write them again especially since they are a bit different given where they are in their lives. I hope you'll join me for another adventure with them in August 2013.

Kim Looking forward to a continuing journey with Hadrian and Royce!

Michael Thanks Kim!

Brandon Zarzyczny Very cool, do you have any idea what the page count will be? I'm assuming it'll be more like the 6 original eBooks instead of the three books from Orbit.

Michael Brandon you are correct. A standard book for me seems to be around 90,000 - 110,000 (as opposed to the 350,000 - 450,0000 of a lot of fantasy series. The first book is still in editing but it is currently 104,500, which is about 15% more than The Crown Conspiracy (clocking in at 91,200).

Tuolivia Can't wait for them to be released! Hadrian and Royce are among my most beloved characters.

Michael Glad to hear it Tuolivia. I do hope (and think) you'll enjoy it.

Fayley Oh no, it's not released yet! Michael you are just a tease aren't you! Here I was thinking I'd found my first school holiday read (kids holidays here in Western Australia) ... and now I find out I have to wait. When will it be released?

Michael August 2013. Orbit and I are working on the edits now.

Kamran Warsi I just finished reading the Riyria Revelations. There are so many references to the past, I cannot wait to see them unfold. You are refinery one of my new favorite authors.

Kamran Warsi Definitely*

Michael Haha....Thanks Kamran!!

Michelle I discovered the Riyria Revelations in late November...and have already read the entire series twice. It's KILLING me to wait all the way until August to read the Crown Tower, and I'm finding it very difficult to concentrate on reading anything else because I can't get Royce and Hadrian out of my head! I think you should write more than just the two books, and I have a feeling I'm not the only one. And if you were to write origin stories for the characters, before their meeting...that would be awesome. Especially Royce, even if he did lack all but a small semblance of humanity back then. Everyone seems to gush over Hadrian, but I'm a Royce fan myself. The antihero is always my favorite, and even with everything we DO know about his past, there's so much more we don't.

Ziggy Stardirt I am a bit late to the party having only just finished reading Revelations. Being a fairly eclectic reader, I'm hard to please. Michael, I cannot wait until Crown Tower is published! Seriously! Revelations was an incredible read, especially considering the reason you began the series (for your daughter). Thank you for sharing your gift.

Michael @Michelle - I'm so glad you are excited for the new books. We'll see how they go before I commit to more - but I have plenty of plot lines sketched out so I do have stories to tell so yeah, if it appears people still want to read more after these two I'd be happy to oblige.

message 16: by Michael (new) - added it

Michael @Ziggy - Nice - welcome. Always good to hear that someone who reads a lot thinks the books "hold their own."

message 17: by Ross (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ross Royce and Hadrian are my all time favorite characters from any book series. Cant wait!

Reign Found these books by accident (luck?). Love them. Burnded through them very quickly and can't wait to read more.

Felix Any chance of a side story about Royce's Elven heritage, or his time with the Wolves? Those seem to cry-out to be told.

message 20: by Michael (new) - added it

Michael @Ross - Nice! I'm honored by your high accolades.

@Reign - glad you found the books

@Felix - I'm not sure at this point. A lot will have to do with how people feel after they read the first two books of Chronicles - I'll take a pulse then and see if people want ANY more R&H stories and then determine which to do from there.

LockeJaw More please. =D
