My first UK review. Sales have been iffy in the UK, so it's nice to know that someone actually read and liked Among Women -- and actually got it. A powerful, discomforting book. The writing is so good that the reader almost literally 'sees' through Pearl's eyes. The sights, sounds and even the smells of the New Orleans jail slide off the page and into your soul. We hear Pearl's story and, through her, the stories of other inmates. Sometimes funny, sometimes scary, sometimes sad, always tragic. A haunting book that stays with you long after you've turned the last page. ~Justin Pritchard
