Erin hunter, who is four different people, and Brandon Mull! All his book series are great, but I didn't like his book The Candy Shop War, and his latest series seems interesting, but they are REALLY short.
I don't really like Brandon Mull that much. I mean yes, Fablehaven had a good plot line, and so did the Candy Shop War, but the writing was kinda bland. How is Erin Hunter four different people? Does she have four author names?
*shrug*
I like J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkien, Robin Mckinley, and Madeleine L'Engle.

Currently I seem to be reading one essential book from a variety of authors in order to expand my knowledge and broaden my mind a bit more. I really want to read more Thomas Mann. I'm thoroughly enjoying a book by him at the moment. It's extremely dense though, but that's no drawback at all.
I've read a couple of short stories by Evelyn Waugh recently as well. Even though I disagree on many of his (yes, he is a man with a girl's name) viewpoints, his ability to satirise almost anything he can think of is just the work of genius. His way of describing a character, a scene or a mood in just a few words or a single action is wonderful. e is a master of brevity, very apt for his comic tone which sometimes includes perfectly applied touches of sarcasm. Unfortunately, his extremely conservative viewpoints and overt racism in his writing bother me. Nothing's perfect, it seems.
Other authors I've read recently who have written some of books I really enjoyed include Albert Camus, Kurt Vonnegut and Henry James. I'm looking to discover the works of Jean-Paul Sartre soon, after I finish the book I'm currently reading.
