A (aleed) | 15 comments Today you will be introducing me and your Goodreads followers to the book you have decided to read during first quarter. To do so, answer the following questions:

1. What is the name of your book and who is the author?
2. Why did you choose to read this book? Have you read books by this author before? Is it part of a series?
3. Who is the main character of the book? Describe their characterization qualities.
4. Thus far, what is the main conflict in the book?
5. Make a prediction, something you believe is going to happen by the end of the book. Explain why you think this might happen.

A (aleed) | 15 comments I am currently reading This Dark Endeavor by Kenneth Oppel. I chose this book because it is about Frankenstein and it is the witching-hour month, enough said. It is the first book in a two-book series. It tells the story of Victor Frankenstein before he created his famous monster. He is currently sixteen, passionate, jealous, rash, and of course, in love. His twin brother is currently sick with a blood disease. Doctors have been unable to cure him, so Victor and his friends embark on journey to create the Elixir of Life. This book has already begun to set up the conflict between science and faith. I believe that Victor's brother will die and Victor will feel like it is his fault. He will become mad with grief and throw himself deeper into the world of science, which will lead to him creating his famous creature. I also believe he will never be with the girl that he loves. She is passionate in her faith where as he is passionate in sciences. I believe this will drive them apart. Also, he is very selfish. Victor does not easily recognize others' feelings. Although the girl seems to care for Victor, I think this will keep her from loving him deeply.

Beth S | 2 comments Right now I am reading the book Boy 2 Girl, by Terence Blacker. A friend found the book and told me about it, but she already had her own book so I took this one. It seemed to be really funny - about a boy who has to pretend to be a girl for the first week at his new high school in order to gain his friends' trust. The main character is Sam, the boy who has to pretend to be a girl, but the book is written by other people's point of view, switching constantly from someone who knows Sam's secret to someone who is clueless. Some of the boys at the school like Sam and try to win "her" over, and all the girls want to be her friend. In the book, Sam ends up liking being a girl, so he stays a girl longer than a week, the lie continuing. I think that in the end of the book he will reveal himself as a boy to the entire school, but he will also miss being a girl because he'll lose some of the friends he had while he was a girl.

Matt B (MattBSFHS) | 2 comments I am currently reading The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien. I chose this book because I've heard that it's a good book and that it's going to be a movie soon. I have never read any books by this author, however, I have heard of a lot of his books. Although it is not apart of a series, there has been many different copies of The Hobbit made over the years. The main character is Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit. He possesses traits such as opening his doors to strangers to help them out when they need it. He is very thoughtful and kind. He has a very hardworking attitude that will get him places. The only conflict so far is when a group of hobbits show up pair by pair. They come to try to bring him on a journey with them. He isn't sure what is going on, and is very skeptical. I believe that they are going to embark on a large journey across rough terrains, and in the the end, I think Bilbo will be okay.

Erika V (ErikaVSFHS) | 2 comments The book I am currently reading is called Babe in Boyland and is written by Jody Gehrman. I chose to read this book after reading the inside cover because I though it seemed like things in the book could relate to my life. I have never read a book by this author so when choosing it i was hoping it would be good. So far, it has been. It's not part of a series. The main character of this book is Natalie. She goes undercover at an all boys school to try to learn what really goes on in boys' heads for a newspaper article. What started out as one little problem, trying to figure boys out, turned into many. She's falling in love with her roommate and her best friend is mad at her. Through her actions you can tell that Natalie is very independent and adventurous. I mean, not everyone would be willing to go under cover as the opposite gender. She is also very caring because she wants the best for her friends and tries to protect them from getting hurt, even though it may not be what they want at the time. I think that in this book, Natalie will completely fall in love with her roommate, and end up telling him the truth about everything which will make him mad considering he really trusts her and they've become great friends. I do think that they will end up together, because you can tell by the way they talk to each other that even as friends, they share this deeper bond that's not easy to find. I also think that she'll get answers about boys, just not to the exact questions that she's asking.

Haris A. | 1 comments The book I'm reading currently is Kick by Walter Dean Myers, and Ross Workman. I chose this book because they talk about my favorite sport soccer. This is the first book I've read by Walter Dean Myers, but he's a good author so I will read more from him. The story is about a thirteen year old kid named Kevin who made a bad decision, and he had a stole a car with another person in the passenger seat. The officer Sergeant Brown who had arrested him, was later on a person who the kid to talk to, so the officer knew more about the kid. The boy knew a lot about soccer and the officer knew a lot about the law. So one would to teach the other about both. There was a state cup(soccer tournament) that was held, Kevin was allowed to take part in as long as he got a good review from the people around him. Every game he played Sergeant Brown was there watching him, and learning more about the game. I think Kevin and his soccer team will win the state cup, but then later be guilty for what he had done. Then Sergeant Brown will talk the judge out of it, and tell everyone how bright the child is.

Noah G | 2 comments At the moment I am reading Salt by Maurice Gee. I chose this book because the title was appealing to me. I had no idea what it would be about and figured that it would be a little more interesting than salt itself. This is volume one in the Salt Trilogy and has been a good read so far. It talks about a guy named Hari who is trying to free his enslaved dad, Tarl. His dad was taken by Company and sent to Deep Salt, where no worker has ever came home. My theory is that Hari will eventually reach Deep Salt where he will find his dead dad. Afterwords he will try to get revenge by forming a rebellion against Company for the second time in his peoples history. The only difference is that this time the Burrows will succeed and end Companies rule.

Tyler C (TylerCSFHS) | 2 comments I am currently reading Unwind by Neal Shusterman. I chose this book because I wanted to see how teenager's lives are that are unwanted by their parents. It is the first book in a four-book series. The story is about Connor, Risa, and Lev who are being "unwound", all being planned out by their parents to make their lives better. Connor is a troublemaker and very brave. Risa is musically talented and farely smart in school. Lev just turned thirteen and finds out he's being unwound at a huge tither party by his old brother Marcus. All three of these teenagers are being unwound and they have to manage to survive on their own because they run away. Gradually throughout the story, I'm guessing that the three kids will end up meeting up and surviving together. They'll make it till they're eighteen with lots of troubles along the way, then they'll be able to fulfill their dreams.

Ryan Sp (RyanSpSFHS) | 2 comments The independent novel i am currently reading is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I choose this book because I saw the movie and really enjoyed it. I also wanted to have read the series before any of the other movies come out. I have never read any books by this author before. I am really enjoying her style of writing. This book is the first part of the series called The Hunger Games. The main character is Catnis Everdeen. She is a 16 year old girl whose family is very poor and lives in district 12. She is passionate, hard working, loving and in love. So far, the main conflict in the book in fighting starvation with her family. I believe that Catnis is going to win The Hunger Games. I think that this will happen because i saw the movie based on this novel.

On the one hand, I loved it. On the other, there is so much intense description and stories within stories that I have never felt inspired to read the remaining two books or The Hobbit. Love the movies though!

Chrisk (ChrisKSFHS) | 2 comments I'm reading INVASION, and the writer is Jon S. Lewis. I picked this book because of the character on the back (drawing). I have never read any other of the writers books and it isn't part of a series. The main character is Colt. He is a surfer and has very, very good grades. Look's cool and can handle him self in a fight. There really is no conflict in the book, He just is going to this "Top" secret place called CHAOS. To get trained to protect earth from other "monsters" that are out there that come to earth to destroy something. I think that he is going to pass this amazing school/college and going to fight other monsters and save the day. Or he dies from something/monster and the humans get wiped out and it leaves a sad and depressing story, Like he could just sit there in his own blood but can still see, and hear and he just looks at everyone screaming and running for there own lives, and some how it's all his fault.

message 12: by Ethan (new)

Ethan S (EthanSSFHS) | 2 comments My book is Elephant Run. This book was written by Roland Smith. I choose this book because the cover had some soldiers on it and i really enjoy war books. The book is about a young boy named Nick who was staying with his mom in London in 1941. When the bombs started dropping in London he moved to his Dad's Teak Plantation in Burma. He didn't escape the war quite yet though. The Japanese soon invaded and took his dad and Nick prisoner. Nick makes a daring escape to save his father and escape Burma with the help of friends and elephants. I think that Nick will escape Burma with his dad thank's to his stepfather Bernard who works for the U.S. Army and his mom who works for the U.S. Embassy. After they escape i think they will return to Burma to retake the plantation.

Jake W (JakeWSFHS) | 2 comments The novel that I am reading is called White Cat by Holly Black. I chose this book because when I read the inside cover of the book, it involved people having the power to change emotions, memories, and luck in other people with a touch of the hand. The book confused me for the first few pages. It started with the main character, Cassel, on the top of his school in the winter. He was apparently sleep walking. Wallingford, his school, decided to suspend him from school until he gets the whole sleepwalking thing figured out and fixed. He goes to live with his brother, Philip, and Philip's wife, Maura. Philip was always the more rude brother out of the three in the family. Maura told Cassel that she was thinking about leaving Philip because of him being so mean. I think Maura will end up leaving Philip. By the end of the book, Cassel should get back to his school.

Sadie A (SadieASFHS) | 2 comments Right now, I am reading a book called Getting Revenge on Lauren Wood by Eileen Cook. I chose this book because the cover caught my eye with its use of color and picture on the front. Then by reading the title, it made me interested to see what it's about and wanted to know more about who Lauren Wood is. The main character of my book is Helen Worthington. She is a high school girl who just arrived back to her old school with a different name, this says she wanted to hide her old self and might be insecure about what previously happens. She also seems to have much rage inside of her just waiting to come out. At the end of the book, I believe that Helen won't get revenge on Lauren Wood because she'll get caught and have her real identity revealed, since after all they were best friends.

Nicole L (NicoleLSFHS) | 2 comments The name of my book is Bones Are Forever by: Kathy Reichs. I choose this book because its a mystery with real life science incorporated in the book. I have not read other books by this author but i have seen the tv series Bones inspired by these books. The series centers around a forensic Anthropologist named Temperance Brennan. She comes off in the book and series as a cold, scientific, totally rational, and unfeeling person. Yet, this cold deminer in part comes from being abandon as a child. the main conflict in the book so far is a mother who has abandon her three babies, when Brennan and her team find her they are long gone and her job is to catch the person who left them to die. I believe that they will catch up to the mother and Brennan will make a revolation in correlation with her life.

Josh R (joshrsfhs) | 3 comments I am reading The Golem's Eye by Johnathan Stroud. It is the second book in the Bartimaeus Trilogy. I chose this book because I wanted to continue the series I had stared reading. This book is about how Nathaniel tries to find out more about the resistance. The resistance is a group of kids who are opposing the leadership of magicians in London. The only thing Nathaniel knows about them is their names: Fred, Kitty, and Stanley. I predict that by the end of the book I will learn more about the resistance and what Nathaniel does to combat them. I also think that I will learn the motives of the resistance.

Abby R (AbbyRSFHS) | 2 comments The novel I am currently reading is Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen. I choose this book because I read a different book by her last year called Someone Like You. Her books aren't a series but I feel that each of the story lines have one thing in common. They all have problems. Some have issues with friends, or with school or with family which is what is happening in my book so far. Ruby, the main character of my novel is a tall, skinny, red headed girl who is very socially awkward and is dealing with what no teenager should ever have to encounter. Her father left Ruby her mother and her older sister Cora when Ruby was only five and her sister was fifteen. Her mother was a alcoholic and she rarely talked to Cora or Ruby about anything. When they were younger her mother often threatened to beat them if they didn't do as they were told or if they disturbed her while she was sleeping. But once Cora went of to College and Ruby was left behind her mother often left Ruby for weeks at a time which forced Ruby to take care of herself and the house. Now, Ruby is being forced to live with her sister Cora who is now married with her very rich husband. With only month until Ruby turns eighteen and is free to live on her own I believe she will stay with Cora and her husband and will join in on their very successful music sharing website until she finds out what her true passion is.

AJ M (AJMSFHS) | 3 comments I am currently reading The Host, by Stephanie Meyer. I chose this book because I have read all of the Twilight books that are also by Stephanie Meyer. The book is set in the future, and the main character of this book is Melanie Stryder. Melanie was one of the last "wild" humans left on Earth. She is very strong-willed and stubborn. There is another spirit living inside of her, but she refuses to let it take control. She fights against it, which is hard because the spirit is very strong. I believe that later in the book, Melanie will get rid of the spirit inside of her, because she doesn't want to be a host for that spirit.

Ben J (benjsfhs) | 5 comments The Amulet of Samarkand is a book by Jonathan Stroud, and it is the book I am reading as of now. I have read this book before, and am reading it a second time because I greatly enjoyed it the first time. It is the first in the a trilogy by Stroud, all of which I have read, in addition to a prequel, by the same author. Bartimaeus, the main character in the book, is very sarcastic, humorous, clever and skilled. He has faced many challenges in the story, chief among them the malicious magician Simon Lovelace, whose Amulet was stolen by Bartimaeus at the beginning of the novel. Lovelace has been attempting to get it back, usually over Bartimaeus’ dead body.

Abby E (AbbyESFMS) | 2 comments The novel I am currently reading is called The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson. I choose this novel because the cover of the book caught my eye and when I looked at the description of the book, I thought it would be good to read. The main character of the book is Jenna Fox. She is seventeen years old and does not remember anything about her life before the accident happened. Jenna is trying her best to remember everything from before the accident because she wants her parents to be happy again, but nothing is coming back to her. Jenna is now going to a new school for kids who are in similar conditions as her. On her first day of school, she already meets lots of new people and remembers her talents in school. For instance, her biggest strength is in history and literature. I believe that once she gets comfortable in her new life, Jenna will eventually remember what her life was like before that accident.

Kate O | 3 comments The book I’m currently reading is The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder. I chose this book for no specific reason, no background, no recommendations. I just picked it off the shelf in the library, and it looked interesting. I had never heard of Wendy Wunder, and this book is the only of its kind. The main character of this book is Cam. Cam is a teenage girl, who is fighting cancer. She is very negative, sarcastic, and has a lot of attitude. But she is also sincere, thoughtful, and loving. So far in the book, the conflict is all of the characters family trying to find a miracle to cure her life-ending cancer. After almost finishing this book, I’m going to predict that Cam does make it. That she defeats cancer, and lives a happy life with her new friends and family.

I have never read books by this author before. This book is not part of a series. The main character of the book is Mimi Shapiro. Mimi is outgoing and fun. She is easy to talk to, trustworthy, and honest. The main conflict in the book is that someone is stalking Mimi and is stealing stuff from her house. I believe that in the end Mimi is going to find out who the person is who is stalking her because Mimi is getting closer and closer to catching the person in the act.

Stephanie K (StephanieSFHS) | 2 comments I am Currently reading Fancy White Trash by Marjetta Geerling. I have never read books by this author before but I like her writing. I chose this book because the title along with the cover looked interesting. The main character of the book is Abby Savage. Abby has a big family with nine people living in her house. She has one best friend named Cody. Cody is in denial a little bit, he’s gay but he won’t tell anyone but Abby. Abby is a junior in high school who has a few problems at home with her family. Her mom and sisters all dated the same guy at least once until her mom married him. So far the main conflict in the book is Abby is trying to find the one guy by following rules. All the rules lead to her ex-boyfriend Jackson. Jackson is trying to be mister nice guy buy going to a foreign country and helping out there after a devastating earth quake. I believe in the end of the book Abby is going to end up falling in love with Jackson again. I think this is going to happen because Abby talks a lot about Jackson and how he is a nice guy and everything. She spends a lot of time with him just talking and she even sneaks out of the house for him.

Cortnie L (CortnieLSFHS) | 3 comments I am currently reading the novel Sweethearts by Sara Zarr.I chose this book because I felt like it has a good story line, and I enjoy mysteries. The book at first glance, seemed like a book I would read. So, initially, I did judge this book by it's cover. I have not read any other book by Sara Zarr, and it's not apart of any series, which is a shame, because I wouldn't mind to continue to read a story exaggerating the story into even more detail and conflicts. The main character in my book is Jenna Vaughn, a seventeen year old girl, who has a deep past, that no one knows about. She is a very dazed girl, who lives in the past, and she seems like she can't get out. She is very afraid of being true to herself, so she hides behind her new identity, to cover up the person she really is, which is a nice girl who gets pushed around a lot. But besides that, she loves her family and friends, and would do anything for them, over her self happiness. In the story, Jenna goes through some self identification problems when her birthday comes. She receives a letter from a supposedly deceased boy who only lived on through her memory, and when he shows up at her school, she doesn't know what to do. The main conflict is really her just trying to figure out why Cameron, the boy, is back in her life, and if he will ruin her new life. I believe that further in the book, Jenna break up with her boyfriend Ethan for Cameron. You can tell that through the years, she's loved Cameron, but she's scared to let her old life show. I also think that maybe she will finally reveal to the town who she really is, and not what they want her to be.

Ka Lia (kaliasfhs) | 3 comments Almost finishing the young adult book, If You Come Softly by Jacqueline Woodson, suggested by Ms. Degenhardt. I had never read a book by Jacqueline Woodson before but I might continue to the second book, Behind You. It is a realistic fiction romance novel about a young Jewish girl named Ellie. After one meeting in a hallway with Jeremiah, a colored boy on the basketball team. They begin to develop feelings for one another. Though at this time, people would give them weird stares and gossip about them since Ellie was white, and Miah was black. Though Miah wants to run away from his problems of his parents being the famous couple who then divorced, he just wants to be, Jeremiah and feel comfortable in his own skin. After Miah had introduced Ellie to his mother, his mother immediately accepted the two together. Except, Jeremiah’s father completely feels different about whites. Ellie’s family on the other hand is somewhat rich and lives in a large apartment building. Her father a doctor and her mother just a house mother. Inside, Ellie is a bit torn up from her mother leaving twice without a trace or word of where she had gone. Yet, when Ellie and Jeremiah are together, it seems the world around them isn’t even there. As for a prediction, I believe that Jeremiah, not yet meeting Ellie’s parents yet, will be discriminated against. Being forced to not be able to be with Ellie, no matter how much they love each other. Since Ellie had told her older sister that Miah was a colored boy, she believes that maybe, her sister could’ve leaked it out to her parents. As same as Miah’s parents, Ellie’s don’t like colored people.

Alex S (AlexSSFHS) | 2 comments The book I’m reading this quarter is called Mirror Image by K.L. Denman. The reason I am reading this book is because my friend handed it to me and told me to read it because I was having troubles finding a book. It isn’t too many pages which is good for me because I’m a slow reader. I haven’t read any other books from this author and it’s not part of series. The main character in this book is a girl named Sable. Her favorite color is black and that’s almost all she wears. She doesn’t like the popular girls who dress in pink or other similar girly colors. Sable gets partnered up with another girl named Lacey in an art project which is the girl she hates the most. They have to go to each other’s houses and get to know each other more. My prediction for the book is that they are going to become really great friends because already they are connecting and having some fun. This is a chick book and I didn’t know it was at the time because the cover doesn’t make it look like a chick book so I’d rather have a different book.

Abigail S (AbigailSSFHS) | 4 comments I am reading Matched by Ally Condie, it is part one of a trilogy. The reason I am reading this book is because my Aunt recommended it to me to read, I haven’t read any books by this author before. Cassia Maris Reyes lives in a futuristic world where you are “Matched” for who she would be with for the rest of her life. The main conflict so far in this book is why did she see another face on her microcard and was he supposed to be her actual match? I believe at the end of the book, she will end up being with that other face she saw and have to run away to be with him. I think this will happen because so far there has been tiny parts where she’s staring at him and thinking of what it’d be like with him and not her actual match.

The reason I chose to read this book is because I read the discription of the book in the inside cover and it sounded very interesting. This book is not a series but the author does write the pretty little liars series. I have not read them yet but I have heard they are really good and I plan on reading them sometime this year. The main charecter in this book's name is April Berman. She is a very outgoing, sneeky girl who is trying to lie to her parents to let her stay in her homeetown with her bestfriend and her boyfriend instead of moving to Cleveland, Ohio with her Dad and stepmom. I predict in the end of this book her parents are going to find out about everything she has been lying to them about and she will get in alot of trouble. I don't really know what will happen at this point because she is lying to her parents so much but I expect something unexpected to occur.

Kayla H. (KaylaHSFHS) | 2 comments The book I am currently reading is called Perfect by Sara Shepard. It is the third book of the Pretty Little Liars series. A few of my friends have read this series and told me it was amazing, which is the main reason I decided to read it. In the series, there is a few main characters; Spencer, Aria, Hanna and Emily. Each of these girls are very different. Spencer is the type of person who is an over-achiever, not only at school, but with everything she does. Aria is an artsy and eclectic person. Hanna is popular, but very particular with what others think about her. Then there is Emily, who is trying to figure out who she is. Throughout the series, these girl started as best friends along with Ali, who died. After she died however, the girls drifted apart, but were recently brought back together because of someone known to them as “A”. “A” has been black mailing the girls and they don’t know why and together they are going to try to find out who “A” is and why they are black-mailing them. Throughout the process, I think that they will eventually discover who “A” is, just not any time soon because “A” is so sly.

Alec M (AlecMSFHS) | 2 comments I am now reading The Battle Of The Labyrinth by Rick Riordan. I chose this book because I have read the other books in the series and really liked all of the books. This book is the fourth book of the series. The series of Percy Jackson and The Olympians contains 5 books full of suspense and action. The main character in this book is named Percy Jackson. He has Zeus as his father and can control most bodies of water. He is always seeking adventure and has a reputation for caring about his friends. The Titans, his enemy, have used his friends to lure him into traps before. That trap almost worked, but he just barely got away, with all of his friends. He is currently 15 and trying to prevent the Titans from overthrowing the Olympic gods. He is very brave and witty in battle. I think that by the end of this book, Percy will have figured out how to navigate the underground Labyrinth and would have once again come face to face with Luke. I also think that he will begin to like Annabeth even more. I believe this will happen because in all the other books, by the end they solve the problem but end up facing an even worse one at the beginning of the next book. I think he will like Annabeth more because of the way he acts, they seemed to be best friends, and they could tell what each other were thinking just by meeting each other’s eyes, but then they got in a little incident and had a fight. They seem to be warming up to each other again and I think this adventure will be just what they need to completely mend their friendship.

I have the book The Last Olympian, I never really read it though, it didn't seem to interest me much, even though I am into some of those weird mythical things. Tell me how you feel about the series after you finish!

It has been a popular series among students over the years, but I can't seem to find the time to read it. Decent movie. Interested in reading what you think of it.

Bradly W (BradlyWSFHS) | 6 comments My book Ice claw by David Gilman is the second of three books and no if anyone's wondering I didn't read the first book yet but I will do so later in the school year. My book Ice claw is about a boy named Max Gordon a determined snowboarder who was framed for a crime inovling his best friend Sayid and tries to clear his name but it's tough to do if he doesn't trust anyone and nobody trusts him. He lost in a snowboarding competition and came fifth. I think he will find the true criminal because I think he was falsely accused and he will clear he's name. I choose to read this book because ther's some parts inovoving snowboaring which I like.

Steph S (StephSSFHS) | 3 comments Currently I am reading Num8ers by Rachel Ward. The reason I chose this book was because of the front cover. I have never read or heard of this series, but the picture on the front cover was as simple as a red eye, and for whatever reason, that intrigued me. The main character of this book is Jem, a small, lean, mean, fighting machine who no one seems to take seriously. What's interesting about her is that when she looks in someones eyes, she can see the date of their death. This has lead to many conflicts, as of right now, she was standing around in London and everyone had the same death date. She knew something was wrong, so she grabbed her friend Spider and got out of there, leaving empty questions for people around her and is being blamed for a terrorist attack that she had nothing to do with. Now Jem and Spider are on a run from the law, but unfortunately, Spider's date is only a week away. I predict she is going to find a way to save her friend, her only friend.

Josh B (JoshBSFHS) | 3 comments At this point in my life I am reading Deadline by Chris Crutcher. I decided to read this book because Ms. Degenhardt recommended it to me and it sounded like a fantastic book. It is about a boy named Ben Wolf. He is a senior in high school, and is really small. Despite this he decided to play football which shows that he has a big heart, not only that but he is smart, caring, and passionate. Before he started his senior year, Ben was told that he had an incurable disease and he was expected to only live another year. This news does not stop Ben as he tries to live the rest of his life to the fullest. I believe that Ben will become an all-state safety, and will receive scholarships for football just as like his brother. He is one of the smartest football players, and can read any offense or defense. Along with his smarts he always gives it his all. This will help Ben overcome his size disadvantage.

Autumn H (AutumnHSFHS) | 4 comments I am currently reading Palace of Mirrors by Margaret Peterson Haddix. I choose this book because one of my friends said it was good! I don’t think I’ve read a book by Haddix but I would read one because I think she is a good author. Palace of Mirrors is not a series though. I think it is good already and I'm not very far in this book. It is about a girl named Cecilia who is an undercover princess. She is hiding from her enemies. Instead of dressing like a princess she is dressed in rags to look like a villager. Also, she has a friend that doesn't know the real her just like the whole village. She is taken care of but in disguise. I think the main conflict is that she will eventually come a princess once she is discovered. My main prediction is that her enemies will find her when she doesn't expect it. Because she has a replacement for her as a cover, I believe that the enemies will find out and take both of them captive. I think she will fall in love with her best friend Harper without her knowing.

Amanda L | 2 comments The book I am currently reading is The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight. The kind of books I read are usually romance. I chose this book because the cover looked interesting. The book is about a girl, her name is Hadley. Her parents got a divorce and she has to fly to London for her dads wedding, the problem is she doesn’t want to go. Hadley has never meet her dads girlfriend and never want to. She wants her family to be back together. When she arrived at the airport she missed her fight so she had to catch a different one. While she is waiting she meets a guy, his name is Oliver. Oliver is also going to a wedding in London where he used to live. Oliver and Hadley had seats by each other on the plane. I think that Oliver and Hadley will fall in love and Hadley will miss her fight. Hadley is shy and very smart, on the other hand Oliver is not so shy. Will Hadley make it to her dads wedding or not?

Kimberly S (KimberlySSFHS) | 3 comments I am currently reading Keep Holding On by Susane Colasanti as my second independent reading novel. I choose this book because my friend said it was a good book and it sounding like something that I would like. I have never read any books by this author before and it is not part of a series. The main character in this book is Noelle. Noelle is a high school student who doesn’t have very many friends. She is very poor and her mother does not care about her. Noelle is easily embarrassed by her financial situation and many kids tease her about it. So far, the main conflict in the book is that Noelle is not treated well at school and her mother does not care for her. I believe that in the end of the book, Noelle will move in with her best friend, Sherae, and start to live her life the way she wants to live it. Also, I think she will start dating Juliann, one of her crushes right now. I think this is going to happen because Sherae really cares about her and her family is really nice. Also, Juliann talks to her a lot and they seem to have a lot in common. I think her high school experience will get better as the time goes on.

Devin D (DevinDSFHS) | 3 comments The book that I am currently reading is Box Out by John Coy, the reason that I chose to read this book is because I am interested in basketball, and it seemed like it could be a good book to read. The main character of this book is Liam Bergstrom; who is 6 ft. 4", who had just tried out for the high school basketball team. What he had not expected though was to make it, not just the JV team but the Varsity team. As he tries out for the basketball team his girlfriend; Mackenzie is in France. As the book goes on Liam becomes worried that Mackenzie may be cheating on him with this guy named Jean-Baptiste, knowing that she had gone to a dance and party with him. Still he doesn’t let that get in the way with basketball, he continues to play the game and take it serious. I am predicting that later in the book Liam will find out that Mackenzie wasn’t actually cheating on him, and was just friends with this boy called Jean-Baptiste. I also predict that Liam’s basketball team will become better at playing the game as a team.

Ryan S (RyanSSFHS) | 2 comments I am currently reading Game by Walter Dean Myers. I chose this book because it was about basketball and that is my favorite sport to play. I have never read another book by Walter Dean Myers, also this book is not a part of a series. Drew Lawson is the main character of this novel. He loves the game of basketball, it is his live. Drew lives in the Bronx of New York, going to a school similar to ours. He is a tall, lean man who lives in an apartment above a barber shop. The conflict of the story is two white kids from Prague come to his school. Drew’s coach and all the scouts are paying more attention to them than they are to Drew. This makes Drew mad and it also makes him try harder. I believe that Drew is going to get better by working hard. I also think that they are going to win the championship. I think this will happen because Drew will lead his team, on the court and off the court. So far I am really enjoying the book.

Alex D. | 2 comments The name of the book is hold up by Terri Fields I choose this book because it was short and essay to read I don’t think it is part of a series. Their doesn’t seem to be any main characters the mane conflict of the book is a robbery that went wrong and once the robbery went bad the one gun man accidently shot one of the hostages. And an old lady had a heart attack and the gun men did C.P.R on her and revived her and they sent her to an ambulance. I think the robber is going to have so much guilt that he will end up turning himself in to the police and go to jail for the rest of his life and burger haven will go out of business or will have more security.
