Nikki Palm | 49 comments Hello as some of you may know, I am a new blind author. My first book Clandestine just came out last month and is the first book in the Bound In Blood series. I have been getting lots of requests from my blind following as well as others to make the series available in audio. Since I do not have the money for such an expensive project, I've turned to a site called Kick Starter. It is a funding site that helps people raise money for their creative projects. The project launched yesterday and is already doing pretty good.

For people who decide to make a pledge and become a backer there are several prizes available to sweeten the deal. I would really appreciate any support I can get. Every dollar counts. I have one month to reach my funding goal and achieve my dream of making my books available for people like me.

Even if you decide you would rather not fund, I would really appreciate it if you would still visit the project page and use the social networking buttons such as the Facebook like to help spread the word. Plus, while you're there, you will be able to see an adorable video my girls made because they wanted to help mommy and be a part of the project.

I really am grateful to you for reading this post and I hope you decide to help in any way you can. Every pledge no matter the size and Facebook like is amazing so thanks in advance.

Sarah Yoffa (webbiegrrlwriter) | 12 comments Best of luck! And thanks for mentioning the idea. I've been wondering how I could possibly afford to create a decent audiobook. I've known about Kickstarter for a while (since it started, haha) but I didn't realize funding the creation of an audiobook was a "legal" use of the crowdfunding resource. AWESOME news to hear it is. Thanks for paving the way Nicole!

Yep Kick Starter works for publishing projects as well. I actually seen several projects for books type projects. Thanks for the comment and good luck if you decide to try it too. I hope you decide to check out my project:)

L.Y. Levand (lylevand) I wish you the best of luck! :) I know a blind couple that take martial arts classes, and I've always been impressed by how determined they are to get it all right. I hope you do well. :)
