Ronan Noane K For the Flemish part of Belgium, which is by the way Dutch speaking, I could advise:

Hugo Claus
Willem Elsschot

message 2: by Ronan Noane (new)

Ronan Noane K and Louis Paul Boon (for example 'Minuet')

Tsjip. De Leeuwentemmer

Ronan Noane K indeed, ''Tsjip. De leeuwentemmer'' is a good book.
If you can find them check for ''Kaas", ''Het Dwaallicht'' and ''Villa des Roses" too.

Agnesca | 7 comments I suggest Maurice Maeterlinck and his book "Pelléas and Mélisande"

message 6: by Ronan Noane (new)

Ronan Noane K If you are into Symbolism, go for 'Bruges la Morte" by Georges Rodenbach.

If you want to read something really decadent (Fin-de-Siècle)
check out JK Huysmans' '' A Rebours" (Against Nature)

Agnesca | 7 comments But, but... Husymans is French ! :)

message 8: by Ronan Noane (new)

Ronan Noane K Aha, okay. I messed up I guess.
I got confused by the fact that his father was Dutchspeaking (cfr lastname Huysmans is not a french name) teacher who moved to Paris.

Chrissie Ekin, the Problemski Hotel looks interesting. Do you know of any site that offers a preview of thext? I am a maniac for checking the prose before I read a book. For example - humor can be expressed in so many ways.
