Since we are lusting after his sexiness' form, this would be a good place to post your favorite pictures of him.

LOL, Aloha! you really are into him, I see!If you people are very very good, I'm going to try and arrange an author interview with him next year.
Aloha wrote: "Good? Good in what? I do a good pretend to remove your thumb act."A good little Mievillian and especially, in particular be nice to me. If you are nasty, then i'll keep him for myself, and no sharing! And you must bring me gifts.
*pouts*. You know it's hard for me to behave, but okay. I'll bring you some dirt to replenish your coast line.
LOL, ok, so you read the sad tale of the sinking island. I think coral reefs have started to build it up again, ironically also because of Global Warming.Well, now that i have put the carrot in front of your noses, we have to make the group look nice enough for China to be impressed. I'll tell him we're doing some free PR work for him here.
Okay. Focus on the man's work, not his biceps....Is there a section for member's reviews? I'll have to check later, I'm on the cell right now.

Scroll down to the bottom of the group area. There are two pages of books added there. You can also click on Bookshelf. Group members reviews are linked to those.
But, you can also post a review in the book discussion threads- it would be silly to duplicate them all for reviews, post your review in there- but please cover plot spoilers with spoiler tags.

Do you want us to cover spoilers even in the discussion threads here?

It's either here, or in Railsea, or.... We can't curb human nature, so might as well have a place for it. My IQ drops 10 points whenever I stare at his pecs, and his oh, so rugged covering over such an ingenious polymath brain. And he draws and writes really well! That's under the category of polymath, isn't it? Redundant... *sigh*
I think there should also be a category for people who have read the book with a warning *SPOILERS*. I can't stand being in a discussion that I can't talk about the book freely. It's like most discussions are penalizing people who have read the book. One of the purpose of discussions is to have a place to discuss a book AFTER you've read the book, so that you can get other people's take on it, and maybe discover other things you've missed in your reading of it. So...PLEASE HAVE A PLACE FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE READ THE BOOK!!!
As you can see, I've developed a huge frustration over going into forums and being the one who have to censor whatever I say because it's catered to people who have not read the book. It makes for a dead and uninteresting discussion.

We can perhaps then make group reading out of all of his books for those who haven't read him yet, and then a separate thread for those who have already read them and want to discuss spoilers freely.
Ok, i'm trying to work out a nice structure where members can participate by adding threads like this one, but i don't want it to get too out of hand, so i'd like to perhaps demarcate a specific arena for it. I was thinking of perhaps calling it 'Member's Arena', but would appreciate if someone could come up with a more imaginative name.
I would also want to encourage members to post links to articles in the online section, but please don't start yet, since i'm still thinking of a name for a folder where we can do that. Maybe just "Online Articles" will do.
Aloha, i'm not ignoring your request for separate spoiler threads, but it may take a while to set them up for every single book, so i was wondering if you have shortlist that you would like me to start with first?
I do want to do that kind of thing myself rather, because i want to keep the structure of the folder hierarchy congruent.

Miéville will be happy to know he's too sexy for work. LOL.
Traveller, take your time and do what you need to do. Obviously, Railsea would be among the first, since it seems a lot of us are interested in that book. The City and the City because it won the Hugo. Kraken because it's pretty well known. Perdido Street Station for being his breaking out book. Those are the ones at the top of my head.
Sadly it seems i can't create sub-folders. Trying to figure out how to do them was what was holding me up. Not having them is messy, but it'll have to do.Thanks!
Oh my, thank you for these!Aloha wrote: My IQ drops 10 points whenever I stare at his pecs
They are quite mind-numbing, aren't they. Sigh.
Those already feature on our proper picture gallery, guys. See the link on the right-hand side of the group, and scroll down right at the bottom to see what is in the picture gallery. Please feel free to add more there, then we can comment in each photo's thread.http://www.goodreads.com/photo/group/...
Jennifer, you don't want to know under how much pressure i was from CERTAIN PEOPLE to use the ducky pic as out main group pic. I managed to beg off with the red sea-monster pic instead.

i cannot attest that we have been so good
good enough maybe
I am at the library to pick up my copy of Kraken. It seems I will need a wheelbarrow to get this back to my lair.
No, you obviously have not been good enough! Youz peoples have not been attending the discussions diligently enough, and that is why we haven't invited Dr Mieville over YET!So, you will be very carefully watched during our Kraken discussion.... XD
so what's the scoop re the official GR interview? I never heard back from organizer. and nothing more when I search around
That was easy. At least, I think this is what they were talking about: https://www.goodreads.com/interviews/...
DEREK THANK YOU FOR HUNTING THIS UPI have access to a computer for an hour so havent read it but really, I do feel a bit miffed that GR would have an author interview and not mention to the author that there is a whole group not only dedicated to his work, but in fact reading his most current release! And that she never contacted any of us with the actual interview date.
I received the one advance announcement that advised I would be informed of the date in early january. I even checked my message box! Exclusive eh
