THE END WAS SOOOO DRAMATIC!!! I actually screamed, lol...
The host is freaking Fantastilistic!!!!!! It is my absolute favorite book in the whole world!!! (apart from Twilight!) I LOVE it and wants to read it again sooo bad!
Im going to have to be brutally honest...the Host sucks! But let me explain to you what makes it suck; the story although original rings quite similar to the Twilight series in many ways. For example the lead females are weak, subservient, while the lead men are macho...it was quite predictable. Also, Stephenie, also adds many of her religious biases to the story as she did wtih the Twilight series...Im starting to give up on Stephenie........

Jessica, did you mean the human women were weak and the human men were macho? In that category, I agree. However, I feel like, and it's not something we'd like to hear/admit, that it's quite true. The way they were living was very primitive-like. So the innate roles kick in, and the men get the meat and the women do the gardening and cleaning and all that.
But I think the most important type of strength that Stephanie portrays is that of the mind. And there was gender equality in that sense, where some were strong and others were weak, but it wasn't separated by gender.
But I read this book so long ago that I forget many of the details... So I don't remember how bad the religion and sexism showed. I feel like it's something I'd catch, but I can't think of anything! Help me out.... :P
Well Steph is Mormon, and that's kinda what they believe in. And since they were living like they used to long ago, it was natural to act that way.I hate happy endings. Like OVER happy endings. The Host was good, but Breaking Dawn was horrible. I thought the Host was reallllly good, a great combo of everything, and she's actually really good with sci-fi.
Yeah! I heard about it (only read up to New Moon on purpose btw). Ugh! So sappy and too perfect... or that's what my friend said lolThis is really making me want to read it again, I haven't looked at it since it first came out! I'm going to have to find the religious views showing through this time

Yes. WWAAYYYY to perfect, sappy, and happy. Like Georgia tea.
lol well then I'm actually glad I didn't read it. Hearing about it was fine enough for me...But let's not get off topic! :P
I have to say, I'm majorly into drama stories, and I really let this book pull me in! I was just so happy about the whole thing.
It seemed more realistic even for a non-realistic topic.
I feel like she was very into the psychology of the characters and it was extremely well done. And I'm so into that stuff!
But I'm hesitant to talk too much about it because I really can't remember too much about it.
I have it right now... most of my friends like it more than the entire twilight saga! I think I do... but just by a little.
I thought the Host was good, but it could have been just as good, and maybe 75 pages shorter. It got really drawn out at some parts.
i only got bored in the beginning but i couldn't put it down once i got into it!i hope so, lauren. i heard ther might be one but i think it'll be a while til there is one
Will it really?! I don't know if I like that. She really should have quit while she was ahead with Twilight (except change the ending...).I would love it if you just would stop and leave The Host the way it is...
It'd be so.. UUUUUGGGGGHHHH.But she probably won't try that again, now that she knows how people feel about Breaking Dawn.
*SIGH* breaking dawn really was a let down. they build all this suspense with the volturi and then it just puffs up in smoke.
I really love The Host!!! It's so good for a book that's not in a series!!
I enjoyed the host, but I cant say it would ever make a very good movie.(semi spoiler alert I guess)
Spending most of it in a dark damp cave, where the only light is from solar powered lanterns and mirrors. But regardless still a fantastic book
It would be interesting if they tried to make The Host into a movie..
well i enjoyed the host too, i think is a very good novel and it's true, there is a lot of similar things to Twilight but well... thats Stephenie's style all the authors make their own brand on their books. I can easily relate Ian to Edward and maybe a little Jared to Jacob and maybe a little bit more Wanda with Bella and Melanie with Leah Clearwatter must of it because of their realationships with their brothers Jamie and Seth, however I think this new situation changes everything and creates a hole new different story
