Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments This week I had a very exciting experience discovering a new author.
He has told me that I can tell the story. So here goes.

On November 21, I invited a Goodreads member, "Burt Hecker", to be my Goodreads friend. I had found his name among the Goodreads members who are from the Glens Falls area. He had a private profile. So I was unable to send him an email inviting him to join our Glens Falls group. For over 2 months there was no reply from him, but on Feb. 7 I received a notice that he had become my friend. I then sent him an invitation to join the group.

A few hours later I became curious about the strange photo he had at his profile page. It looked like the strange looking man in the large painting at the link below: ====>

In fact, it looked like this:

So I did some research. I discovered that the name of my new friend was actually the name of a character in a novel. The painting at the link above played a part in the novel. The novel was written by a new author.

I put 2 and 2 together and decided to write to my new friend and tell him that I had discovered his secret. He was an author who had gone undercover and was appearing at Goodreads incognito, as the character in one of his books!

It turns out, that after I had found him out, he decided to come out of hiding. He did it between yesterday and today. He has created a new profile as himself, the author. In an email to me he explained:
=========================================
"I joined goodreads because I was curious to see what readers were writing about my novel. So I guess I'm a spy, of sorts! "
========================================
Now he has registered himself as a GoodReads Author.

Now that you know the story, I will provide links to his two different profiles:
1. The incognito profile
and
2. His profile as a new GoodReads Author.

At that second profile, you can read about his book and all the rave reviews he's received from the following newpapers and magazines:
The New York Times
The Boston Globe
The New Yorker
The Observer
The Financial Times
The Guardian

His name is Tod Wodicka. His profile is here:

His undercover profile as "Burt Hecker" is here: ====>

("Burt Hecker" is the character in his novel.)

The name of his book is a long one. Brace yourself. It's:
_All Shall Be Well; And All Shall Be Well; And All Manner of Things Shall Be Well: A Novel_

Below is a cover-link:

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments The following excerpt from Wiki explains the source of the title of Tod Wodicka's book (which is:
_All Shall Be Well - And All Shall Be Well - And All Manner of Things Shall Be Well._)
===================================================
"Julian of Norwich (c.1342–c.1416) was considered one of the greatest English mystics. ...

"Her great saying, '...All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well', reflects this theology. It is also one of the most individually famous lines in all of Catholic theological writing, and certainly one of the most well-known phrases of the literature of her era. It was quoted in T. S. Eliot's 'Little Gidding', the fourth of his 'Four Quartets', and served in its entirety as the title of Tod Wodicka's first novel."
