I agree. However, I don't think he failed at everything. I think he did the best that was absolutely possible.I din't figure out any of it. I try to not to foreshadow as much as possible because the book is ten times better that way. Sometimes I fail at that, but this I didn't. And man, can I tell you was I just shock when all his stuff came to life. When I was told I felt like an idiot for not realizing it!
Anyway, he was a great man, may he rest in peace...
I love Brom, but I didn't really realized I liked him until he died. I'm going to have to reread Eragon soon so I can remember him. He was shrewd, tough, gruffly humorous, and a force to be reckoned with.
I loved Oromis as Eragon's mentor, but I don't think there will ever be another Brom for Eragon.
I can't really decide who I think is the better mentor. But you are right, there will never be another Brom.
Yeah, because Oromis was cultivating all parts of Eragon's knowledge while Brom was just trying to keep Eragon alive, but he learned valuable lessons from both, so who the better mentor is will not be known.
"Mmm" as in "I agree with that".
Brom was awesome. I almost cried when he died and I was so close to tears in Brisingr when u find out he's Eragons dad. But Broms death worked out.

Brom was great in the first book, but he should stay there.
