Ma'ady was attacked by a Time Keeper who was working with The Red Queen, who wanted to steal her youth. The Rabbit's job was to use his watch to age Ma'ady and give The Queen her stolen years. Alice Maddingale killed the Time Keeper and turned his skin into a headband, which is why she can use the Watch and where she got it in the first place.
