There is a new era.

The Pre-Republic Era takes place before the founding of the Old Republic. The Rakatans control much of the galaxy. Force users exist, but both light and dark are embraced by a young Je'daii Order.

This era concerns the origin of the Sith, the fate of the Rakatan Infinite Empire, and the formation of alliances that will one day lead to the creation of the first Galactic Republic.

As of this writing, the era is being developed and explored in the Dawn of the Jedi series of comics. However, in Spring 2013, horror and dark fantasy novelist Tim Lebbon will release Into the Void, a novel set in the same period.

This era is interesting enough but I doubt it will ever be explored fully. At least not the same attention as the Old Republic Era.

I just finished the first graphic novel. It was very interesting. It seems the novel will release in May, long before the second graphic novel finally hits shelves in October.
