Country: Old Spain (Captain), Messo-America (Dragon) No longer affiliated to a country. (Enemy of Napoleon)
Name: Moody (Captain), Coaxoch (Dragon)
Type: Quetzal
Looks (picture would be nice): http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs47/f/200...
A feathered serpent with two wings and a long tail only (amphiptere). Weighs about 18 tons, 90 feet long, wingspan 150 feet. Has an array of different colors: blues, greens, reds, yellows. Armored scaly crest. Really muscular wings, not fragile. She wears the coat of arms of the Moody Family on her forehead.
Personality: She is sly and cunning, compassionate and thoughtful, knowledgable and wise, stubborn and strong willed, energetic and playful, protective and strong. She likes to explore and learn (curious). Has mix feelings about fighting (unsure). Fears water. Loves music.
Weakness: If she get water in her feathers she can't fly, needs lift. That is why she fears water. She is very visible with her bright coloring, no sneak attacks. She has no limbs but her wings, so she can't defend herself with say claws. Her long body leaves lots of openings. She is not at all confidant in battle and is self sacirficing. Thinks she is the most gorgous thing to walk the earth. Alsmost useless on the ground. Moody has a missing left hand that has a dagger on the stump. He is small, there for weak. He is social okward, except with the Corps. Depressed a lot becasue a dark past. Isn't good at book learning (but they both love books of course!).
Strength: She has very strong wings that make her the fastest flier, that she can hit very hard with, and that can cut deep with her razor shard feathers. She has the Xiuhcoatl, a kind of devine wind. Is very flexible, meaning a great escape artist. A whip like tail that can also cut. And a crest that protects her head. And she learns like sponge, including languages. Her personality keeps the Captains mood up. Knows First Aid for both dragon and human. Is great with any blade. Is fast and durable.
Special Weapons: Fastest flier on the Western Hemisphere. Xiuhcoatl, divine wind (like Temeraire's). Whip like tail. Razor sharp feathers.
Back Story: Coaxoch's egg was pillaged from Cholula Temple, who were entrusted with it's keeping by their deity, by the Spanish in 1801. Then, in 1808 it hatched and was harnessed by a Spanish Captain Moody, the first Captain to harness a Quetzal Dragon (there are only three known Quetzal Dragons). In 1810 Spain was taken by Napoleon, giving opportunity for Central American Countries to rebel against the crown. These two aided in the rebellion; Coaxoch because she wanted the people free from European rule, and Moody because he is an enemy of Napoleon. They won freedom for countless countries and are now considered the Liberators of Americas.

Stephanie (stephaniemoody) | 32 comments Country: French (now British) settlement in India, Chandannagar (known as Farasdanga to the French-born)
Name: Chandra
Type: Flamme-de-Gloire
Age: 8 years
Looks (I'll work on the picture): An average middleweight, Chandra has silver, iridescent scales, with yellow-gold markings on the tips of his wings. Similar yellow-gold markings entwine his body like ribbons, and his eyes are a deep scarlet. Has a crescent shaped "birthmark" over his left eye.

Personality: Chandra is fierce and determined. He can be impatient at times, but places a high value on respect. A self-declared ‘noble’, he thinks highly of himself and can be arrogant, feeding into his repulsion of change, though he cares very much about those that he loves, and is willing to do anything it takes to keep them safe and happy.

Special Weapons: As a flamme-de-gloire, he can breathe fire, and happens to be very nimble with his tail, one of his most prized bodily possessions.

Strengths: Fire. Lots of fire. Chandra has very advanced control over his tail, and his favorite maneuver is to wrap it around an enemy's body to constrict all air flow. He also has advanced vision, and can see for very lengthy distances, as well as an average skill in land battles.

Weaknesses: He is afraid of water, and prefers not to come in contact with any corrosive liquids. Also quite obsessed with himself (much to Stéphanie's dismay). Can sometimes refuse orders he deems "below him".

Back Story: In 1757, the British captured the French settlement of Chandannagar. Angered by the commercial loss, the French fought and eventually regained Chandannagar in 1763. At this time, they brought over several breeds of dragons from France to protect their colonial investments. Chandra’s mother, the legendary battle dragon (and a flamme-de-gloire as well) Aalish, was one of them. During this time, she bred with another flamme-de-gloire, and the egg was gifted to the governor of the city. Unfortunately for the governor, the egg ended up hatching and becoming harnessed by one of his servant girls, Stéphanie, who subsequently named him Chandra, seeing as his crescent birthmark and silver coloring reminded her of the moon. Shortly afterwards, the city was recaptured by the British, and the Napoleonic wars had begun. Stéphanie, frustrated by the French and their increasing problems, eagerly aligned herself with the British, and in turn, Chandra did the same.

message 22: by Space-2 (last edited Oct 18, 2012 07:40AM) (new)

Space-2 (Space2) | 12 comments Country: Sweden/Finland/Russia/ Northern Europe

Name: Petrus

Captain: Mats

Type: Lindorm

Looks : Something like http://www.aabne-samlinger.dk/m99/ima... but colours mostly green and blue. Bright but dark hues. Petrus has only two thick legs and isn't that big as scandinavia is dark and cold. The heavy tail acts like a third leg balancing the dragon. Big enough for flier only and occasionally for another passenger for shorter runs.

Personality: Moody and independent. Let's me fly him quite seldom. Loyal but shows it only when he wants to. Demands a lot of food and inspiration if I want him to do work for me, which is mostly flying post and do all kinds of strange errands around Baltic Sea.

Special Weapons: Venomous bite and acid tongue in conversation as well.

Back Story: Lindorms are mostly feared by people and most of them are feral. Many are known to bite kids and even grown ups to death. Therefore the nests and adult lindorms are often killed by local folks. I accidentally found Petrus deserted in the woods on a small island in Finnish archipelago. He was so small and needed help to survive. Once he grew up he was attached more to me than other lindorms.

Once I grew up I was called to army but as I had a dragon of my own, which is quite unusual around here, I was given tasks that only a dragon can perform. After many heroic adventures I was given freedom from the army.

Now we are a team doing tasks in the Baltic Sea for anyone who can afford it. Mostly delivering valuable goods around. Sometimes taking solitary passengers who want to move fast, no questions asked. No dirty business like dropping bombs etc. Kings and countries come and go around here and we are loyal to no-one but ourselves. Our area is mostly somewhere between Stockholm, St. Petersburg, Riga and Copenhagen. Especially the large islands in the Baltic Sea, like Oland, Aland, Gotland and Saaremaa offer lucrative opportunities to deliver stuff faster by air than by ship.

In the winter time we keep holidays and lay low unless somebody pays a lot to do something. Petrus doesn't mind freezing cold but has average vision in the dark, which makes short winter days problematic. That's all right as we have more things to do in summer time when the days are really long.

Petrus eats mostly seals and fish. I share with him unless he has killed his prey with venom. Luckily I have grown some tolerance for the venom during the years.

All the names are creative.
My dragons name, Coaxoch, means "serpent flower." Steph helped me find it and when I saw what it ment I just had to make that her name!

Stephanie (stephaniemoody) | 32 comments Coaxoch is definitely a fitting name, in my opinion. And I knew you'd probably love one, once you looked at the names :)

message 30: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephaniemoody) | 32 comments Alexis, achhh. I feel so bad for giving you another notification, but I can't help but reply!

Aw, thank you! I like names with crazy awesome meanings, especially when they're in a language I adore (Bengali, I'm talking about you.) Oh no, Chandra loves when people love his name. He believes it to be quite noble.

I'll let Cole speak to you about Coaxoch, even though I'm quite as excited about it as he is. I did help with it, but he gives me too much credit. I just suggested he check out a naming website and investigate the meanings of the names to fit his dragon. It was all him from there!

Ack, Alexis, you. are. being. stubborn. Your backstory is beautiful, just like ours. I second what you said, the dragons are so different from each other, but its beautiful. I love that each of us could create such elegant and richly coloured backstories. This should be an incredible RP.

Good luck with your notifications... I know the feeling all too well!

Stephanie (stephaniemoody) | 32 comments Name: [Captain] Stéphanie Fischer

Country: Originally from Germany, then France, and eventually Chandannagar.

Type: Human.

Age: 18 years.

Looks: Cropped blonde hair, hazel eyes. Average height, slim build.

Personality: Quiet & determined. Sensitive, but will do what is necessary. Hates the Bourgeoisie. Can’t stand underhanded actions. Loves to read, and enjoys writing poetry.

Strengths: She has impeccable hand-eye coordination, which aided in her many years of archery lessons. Additionally, she is fluent in three languages.

Weaknesses: Afraid of sharp objects. She is also insecure and second guesses herself frequently.

Backstory: Born to a German father and French mother in Hamburg, Germany, Stéphanie was the living testament to her parents’ union. They married not for love, but for political alliance. Both were from prominent families in their respective cities, and joined together to strengthen their political holds in each country.

However, a scandal hinging on indescretions between family members ruined her father’s family, and they were stripped of social and political influence. Their business fell apart, and they were plunged into the recesses of poverty.

Around this time, Stéphanie’s mother fell ill, and was dead not three months later, stricken with what was called “heart-sickness”. Her father, all alone and faced with massive debts, decided that selling Stéphanie as a servant would be his best option.

Therefore, at the age of ten, she was off to France. After a few years in France under a cruel master, he was given the job of city governor in the new French colony of Farasdanga, in India. When he arrived, he was gifted with an egg, and Stéphanie was named caretaker.

She grew to love the egg, and began to sing to it all the old battle-hymns of her hometown. She sang to it of nobility, of love, of pride. Whenever the cold, condescending old man called her to his chambers, or threatened her at knifepoint unless she followed his orders, she would remind herself of the egg she so tenderly cared for.

Eventually, the day came where the egg cracked, and as Stéphanie harnessed the delicate baby dragon, she promised him that she would always let him know how special he was, and how he saved her life.

Needless to say, she was ecstatic when Britain overthrew the French and their pompous ways, and eagerly joined their ranks.

Lauren Book Witch (lauren962) Country: Turkey

Looks (picture would be nice): Coming soon!
Personality: Oronore, called Oro is a calmly dragon, balancing out his captain's impulsiveness. He is thoughtful and extremely laid back. It is hard to provoke him to fight since he is so peaceful but when you do push him, you'd wish you didn't. Oro can be fierce with both claws and breath. Though merciful he is powerful and strong. You will rarely see him angry but when he is you'd better run, or fly away! He has a weakness for food. He is funny and charming, constantly joking around.

Back Story: Captain Emillia rescued Oro as a hatchling when her pirate ship attacked a Turkish vessel. After killing the ship's captain and crew, stealing all the riches aboard she ordered the ship be set to fire. Emillia took the dragon back to her ship, he told her his name was Oro and the two became partners. Oro's captain was the captain of the ship whom Emillia killed. Oro was sad, but being only recently hatched he didn't get the chance to form a true bond with him. Emillia becomes his new captain but she has yet to tell him the truth.
